So I was jolted out of my sleep this morning with a monster cramp in my calf. Literally had me in tears and screaming at the top of my lungs. I was trying to stretch it but the cramp wouldn't let up. I scared the crap out of DF and he came flying upstairs and stretched my leg out for me. That was NOT fun!!

Ugh I'm not looking forward to that!! It hasn't happened yet but I had them my other two pregnancies.
I read that extra potassium or calcium can help so I started taking calcium supplements the last time and it helped a bit

I had them pretty bad with my first pregnancy and it was a lack of potassium, I ate a boatload of bananas and took a prescription from my OB for potassium. Also pump out that H20, that can give you cramps too.

I used to get those all the time a few years ago. They are awful. Even though it hurts, walking on it seems to stretch it out the best. Its lack of potassium and/or hydration so drink lots of water and eat more bananas.

Those things are HORRIBLE! I have a constant habit, even when I am NOT pregnant to NOT POINT MY TOES when I get up in the morning. When you feel that leg cramp coming on, point your heel... and try your hardest to relax. The best way to keep them away is bananas! Tums, calcium, and WATER!!

Oh, I had forgotten about those! Haven't had one this pregnancy yet, but remember them from before. I'm trying to be really conscious about my water intake now (something I'm not good about). My midwife recommended 100 oz per day and so far it hasn't been hard.

Thanks ladies. I really do believe its my water intake because I am starting to get continuous headaches. Haven't had anymore cramps but my calf is still sore. I am really trying to up my intake of H20 and I will try some bananas...Does banana pudding count??

I get them when I point my toes too! They're horrible!

I do think fresh bananas (no pudding! hehe except just for fun, of course) and extra water intake will help.

Ouch! I hate those! I had them with Chase a lot but so far none this time!

I agree with previous ladies-- up water intake, more potassium (and good try with the banana pudding! hahah!), and even though it seems like you wont want to do this--- if it happens while laying or sitting, stand up immediately and put weight on it! That will actually help alleviate it faster
