I told a friend the other day that we are paying to have an elective gender scan done at 16 weeks. Instead of the usual "oh how exciting!" she says, "OMG you need to save your money - my friend went there and they told her the wrong gender!" So now I am all worried they will tell me the wrong gender and I feel stupid for even scheduling it. Why do people do that with pregnancy!!!

Gahhhhhhh! I hate that, why can't people just let you be happy?!

Don't listen to her! Go, get your ultrasound! Does your place have a gender guarantee?

OH would also like to say any good tech will be positive before letting you leave with an idea! Ours thought BOY at first but you could tell she wasn't sure about it and searched for another 10 minutes before realizing that the "penis" she thought she saw was actually probably a FOOT lol and that this baby is all girl!

Some people just have to open their big mouths. Go get it done and don't worry

Well it's possible, not likely though. But it doesn't matter if its an elective place or at your doctors either way there is a possibility of it being wrong. But she could have kep her mouth closed.

I'm the other way though, I want to hear your worse experience! I wish people would have told me their bad experiences with Mirena I would have never gotten it. I wish more people told me their bad experiences with csections, I would have been more prepared for my horrible one. But little things like gender being wrong and things like that, keep tha to yourself.

Don't listen to her!! If they were telling people the wrong genders they wouldn't stay open too long! I'm sure it'll be fine

People are annoying. Let yourself be happy and have it done. I got mine done with both kids and it was amazing

People are narcissists and assume that because their story was interesting to them it will be to you.

But come on, getting the gender wrong can happen anywhere, it's still exciting to try to find out, and, even if the tech isn't sure, it's still lovely to get another peek at your baby. Have a wonderful time.

I'm like Mom2Ricky..... as well. I want to know the worst possible scenarios. I would rather be prepared for the worst and get the best then to expect the best and get the worst, KWIM?

With my first pregnancy, I only ever heard about the positives. And boy did I experience some negatives! With DD I thought I knew more about the negative of what to expect and got a curveball. This time, it's another curveball, but I'm now at the point of hearing worst cases that when it's a great news day, it's fantastic.

You said she was your friend, maybe she wasn't trying to be negative but just get you prepared? It's ok to hear some neg during pregnancy just so long as your friend supports you majority of the time and is there for you.

Sorry she worried you like that! Go get your gender scan...usually its very clear, no mistaking the gender of they wont tell you...plus you will see what the tech see's, so you wont only be trusting someone else's judgment but your own as well!

Thanks ladies! You are right, she was probably just trying to help, but it made me a little bummy about the scan. I will definitely still go and enjoy seeing my baby! I will just be sure to ask the tech what percentage she is sure of the sex LOL!
