So my best friend wants to through a Jack and Jill Baby-Q shower. My husband and I have just bought our first house and she wants to host it there to partly be a housewarming party as well. I'm cool with that, although I'm afraid it may seem tacky to some.

When doing invites, should we invite entire families to the Baby-Q? I haven't been to too many baby showers, and the ones I did attend had a few other babies there, tops. Since this is going to be way more informal, would it be okay to invite whole families? We don't have too many of our peers with children, but some older coworkers we know and would like to invite have quite a few school-aged little ones. I'm afraid that the male peer group members may get rowdy in their corn-hole games or that language might not be entirely appropriate.

Thoughts?

Baby-Q!! That's so cute!

Okay back to invites... I think it really just depends on your style and preferences. For my first baby shower my mom planned it and she's a little old fashioned and only invited women (and no children).

This time around she's told me she wants to have another shower for us (even though it's not baby #1, it's my DH and I first together and the first baby in 4 years), and asked if I'd mind if she made it open to men and children too- I told her absolutely! I love the idea of everyone being involved! I guess my thing though is we're all really kind of loud and rowdy so it's no difference if the men are around! haha!

My mom and one of my best friends both want to throw me a shower but they can't get along to do it together so I don't know what we'll do.

I love the idea of the BabyBQ! Friends, family and new babies = perfect combo!

I think that it is old fashioned to just invite women. I'm all for including men and women and kids...after all the father did help to create the child

These days you can do whatever you want. There's no right way to do a baby shower! I had two showers, 3 kids. My two showers were only a year apart. I'm thinking about doing another shower for this kiddo since its been almost 5 yrs, but I'm not sure since I don't have many family/friends its probably not worth it, that's why I didn't do one with my third.
