Sigh.

So I had my 20 week appt today and babies heartbeat was low, like 103 low. Its consistently been 150, every time we've heard/seen it before. The doctor commented "Must be reading a book in there.." and said it's pretty common, I however, am freaking out about it. I don't know whether to call back tomorrow and ask to be rechecked or just wait it out or what to do.

Has anyone else had this happen? I don't want to be that pesky patient who calls about every little thing but I'm extremely freaked out about how low it is. Everything I read online says 120-160 is normal, everything else is too low.

Anyone?

I have personally never had this happen to me, but you have every right to be scared/nervous. If it would make you feel better I would call back tomorrow again and maybe get some reassurance. I really hope it all turns out well. *hugs*

Sounds more like he picked up on your heartbeat instead of baby's...

I agree, it sounds like your heartbeat. There's nothing wrong with calling though if it would help you to feel better.

To better ease your mind, call the doc back. whatever makes you feel better, because this is your baby and there is nothing wrong with knowing the full extent of the health. Nagging or not. hope all is well

I would agree with lost and the other ladies, about it being your hb. Sometimes these OB appts are so quick, they are just flying through and not taking their time.

I agree. It sounds like it was your heart rate. I have a fast heartrate most of the time. If i'm slightly active its not abnormal for me to go to 100-120.

the ladies above. It doesn't sound like the doctor seemed worried? So I wouldn't worry,

Thanks ladies.

I put a call into the nurse and I'm going to ask her if they can get me back in today/tomorrow for reassurance.

When I was checked past time, the doctor used the Doppler and could only get my heartbeat clearly while looking for baby girl. She's fine, but I was surprised that there could even be a question when he was focusing so low.

Hopefully that's all it is.

I agree with the others. My last quickie appointment the doctor put the doppler on and then said, 'oh wait that's your heartbeat' and then she went on to find baby's.

I'd still go back in for reassurance, ((hugs))

So I called the nurse line, she said he must have just said it wrong because he wrote a completely different number in the line lol! She said he wasn't concerned at all and his number is definately in the right normal ranges of fetal heart rates! I'm going in tomorrow just to be doubly sure
