Who is doing them? Are they worth it? Did your baby cooperate and give you good photos?

I know some of you can get them done at your normal u/s appointments however where I live it is private appointments only and cost up to $200 and I'm cheap.
My mom is dying for my to have one and I told her I would have to find a heck of a good deal in order to get one cause I can't spend $ like that right now. (I would just tell her to pay if she wants me to do it that bad however she's buying me a glider chair and stepdad is making me a bassinet).

Just wanted to know your thoughts...

We had ours at 16 wks 6 days. It was definitely worth it for us. The place we went to had a winter special on their website for a mini 3d/4d session for $85. We got a 15 min u/s, about 15 print outs, and we bought a dvd of the whole thing for $10. It was amazing.

I'd love to go back now that baby is bigger.

I wanted to, but the DH said no.. BOO.

He felt that it was a waste of money since we get regular U/S at the doctors office. I think they look like fun!

Ours is booked for May 5th. Ill be 26 1/2 weeks. They have a special for Mother's Day so that's the one were doing. We get a DvD of the whole thing, about 25 pictures on cd, 4 4x6 colour prints, 1 5x7 colour print, a 5x7 frame and a teddy hear with the baby's heart beat recorded inside it. For $159
We got a similar package with our other two kids and I think it's totally worth it. Can't wait for mine!

We did our 3d u/s at 15 weeks. We paid $99 for a DVD, teddy bear with baby's heart beat, and a ton of pictures!

I'm so excited!!! I just found a place that does it for $50 which includes 20-30 pics on a CD. And I can add a DVD of the whole session for $15!
The lady said the best time to come is between 26-28 weeks so the baby starts to get some chub in his cheeks. Going to try and schedule it for the weekend before my mom's 60th birthday so I can give her a surprise photo at her party

We went for gender determination at an elective place. My Ob did one at 20 and 22 weeks on office but the placenta is in the way of her face for the most part and we didn't get a lot of good views

We're not doing one. We splurged on a 16 week gender ultrasound, but the 3D are too expensive.

Not doing one either, they are just too expensive ($150 and up) and there aren't any places close by that do them (1/2 hr away at least).

I'm thinking about doing it in a month or so. It would be a great thing for me to be able to send to DH on deployment!

Do you know if you have an anterior placenta or not? I've had 3 ultrasounds (2 this week actually) and none of the techs could get a decent 3D picture because the placenta is in the way. I barely got a good profile pic in 2d.

You're probably good if you don't have an anterior placenta.

Oh good thinking Holly! I'm pretty sure it is posterior but had an ultrasound this week so I can ask my OB when I see her next.

It would be about $150+ here.. I did the 2d gender scan and they gave me a bunch of 3d shots and pictures. It was cool but I would not pay for the extra. I still have more important things to buy. Thats a lot of diapers. lol.. plus, we will see our little ones soon enough. If it was like $50 I might have thought about it.

I had a 3D with an anterior last pregnancy
Funny it's posterior this time and I couldn't get a profile shot because of it.

I had them done with #1, 3 and 4 but they were offered at the doc's office, I didn't pay extra for them. #4 was the most cooperative and we got the best pics.

I'm now at a place that doesn't have that type of ultrasound available so I don't know if we'll pay for it or not. I have an anterior placenta and with #1 it was hard to get a good face shot because she kept burying her face. So I'm torn.

I did 2 last pregnancy and 1 so far this pregnancy, I will do 1 more at the end. I think it's definitely worth it! Ours are not $200 though! But at least once because this is your only chance to get those pics to keep forever!
