Ok ladies so as many of you may remember I was put on bedrest and my job does not offer paid leave. So after 3 weeks and with much persuasion and prayer, I was able to return to work, light duty. Many of you may also remember I am a second grade teacher. If you happen to privy to any particular 7 year old, take them and multiply them times 22 (11 boys)! SOoooooooooo needless to say I put together a so called "bulletproof" light duty system that consist of a helper for everything including chair carrier for bathroom breaks :-)! WHile the students are enjoying all the new jobs, one of my co-workers says "Why are you here?" I politely inform her that my students need to learn mulitplication and division in the next 32 days and be prepared for a state assessment next year and it won't hurt for me to sit on my rear end at home with 3-4 random subs in each week. SHe respeonds and says, Don't you think it makes it harder on the rest of us for you to be here giving your children "privledges" other students don't have? With a smile, I finished my students bathroom break and left her hanging... To think I thought she was worried about overdoing my pregencay and she is more concerned about undoing her job! Grrr.

As I stated this is random... So i graduated back in February with an Education Specialist Degree (ED.S), but I have yet to celebrate because graduation is August 17, prime baby time! My due date is August 20, though they are taking it by C-section July 30 (prayers I make it to 37 weeks), I really feel like I owe it to myself to try and make graduation however I do not want to pay the graduation fee and then not make it (non-refundable), hubby however thinks we should travel to Minnesota and do it. I am still on the fence, what do you guys think?

I guess my last rant is about my stupid laptop. I am long overdue for one, but all the funds are baby focused right now and I figure we have 33 days til summer and I am finish with school so i can hold off on the expense right now, but ugh i forgot about everyday surfing. We have a desktop computer as well that is shared by the household, but with 5 school age kids Yikes!

Okay I guess my rant is over! Happy Earth Day!

Ugh! How annoying about your co-worker makings such a comment. Good for you for ignoring her and walking away. I'm glad you're able to get back to work and I'm sure the kiddos love having you back!

As for the graduation thing, I'm not sure what I would do if I were you. We have two close friends getting married in September (one of which I could still technically be pregnant for) and the other all the way in AZ (in which my DH is the best man). Scheduling travel time that close to the due date is always stressful!

Why can't the co-worker make chores for kids as well? It doesn't take much to make a kid feel special and privelaged.

Oh gosh so sorry to hear about your coworker! How awful of a person you are for teaching your kids to be helpful to those who need it!
Good for you for ignoring her!! I would have fired back lol

I think you earned your graduation! If its physically possible I would definitely go- you only get it once and like I said, you earned it!

I agree with the others in regard to your co-worker. You definitely sound like an "out of the box" type of teacher and that is was the public school system needs. I'd ignore her. She's probably jealous.

WOW that was very rude by your co worker. I'm sorry. I think you're doing fine, my kids go to a private school and my son is in 2nd (praise you 2nd grade teachers) and they all have responsibilities. My son actually does better if he has a "job" to do and stays out of "talking" trouble.

As for graduation, I would so try to go but I've never had a c-section so I don't know how recovery and such goes.
