So I really just need to vent here. DH and I bought our first house two months ago, and within a week of closing we had a tree come down and had to spend $600 out of pocket to have it removed. Then last week our creek flooded during TS Andrea and our backyard turned into a swamp. The water almost reached our crawlspace, where our water heater and AC pump are located. Then last night we had 60mph winds that knocked down three HUGE trees (200+ feet in height) in our backyard. One tree missed the house by mere inches, but our storage shed, fence, and neighbors roof weren't so lucky.
I had tried to remain positive about all the little misfortunes until I lost it last night. We had an emergency tree service come out at 11 pm (the ONLY ones who picked up their phones because every other place was so swamped) and the estimate for the removal is $2000. We have a $1000 deductible and tree removal is capped at $500 on our homeowners insurance, so we'll have to pay $1500 out of pocket at a BARE minimum. We just bought a house and have a baby on the way...we don't have that kind of money! I'm so stressed I've been near tears all day at work.
Talk with the tree removal company about a payment plan. Since they have so many people who were affected, they will have payment options available. Don't worry. They know most people don't have $2000 to drop on an unexpected thing like fallen trees. They should work with you to get it paid as long as you're up-front with the company.
is it an emergency? can you call around for a better deal? A payment plan is a good idea to ask for, too.. I am sooo sorry you are dealing with all this! That is a lot of money to come up with at this moment.
Omg I'm so sorry to hear about all of these things that have been happening to you guys! I agree with the ladies above me, definitely ask about a payment plan! That is A LOT of money to just throw into something like removing a tree, they have to have some way to help people out. *hugs* to you!
