Today is my 36 week appt. We're doing an ultrasound because at my last appt. I was 34.5 weeks and measuring 39. I think my Dr. is getting a little freaked out although with my last pregnancy I always measured 2-4 weeks ahead. My last boy was 10.10 and she said I did a great job delivering him but she said she doesn't know if even I can handle a 12 pounder.

So I'm a little nervous to find out how big he is. BTW, I need to stop watching the baby shows on TLC, they are getting me freaked out for labor all over again!

Good luck with your ultrasound, just remember that they can only estimate the weight, and it isn't very reliable.

I had a baby that was 10.5 and another that was 11.8, and had no problems delivering either.

Update: According to my ultrasound the baby is already measuring almost nine pounds! I know the ultrasound can be off but he's definitely going to be another 10-11 pounder. My doctor said she might want to induce me at 39 weeks and I told her that I would really like to try to go into labor on my own and how long would she let me wait? She said she definitely wouldn't want to go past 40 weeks and we could try just breaking my water instead of going straight to pitocin because last time the pitocin SUCKED.

Has anyone been induced before with just having their water broken? If so, how did you progress and were you able to avoid using pitocin? I'm getting nervous and I can't believe it could be 3 weeks or less!!

Oh also, she checked my cervix and I am 1.5cm dilated. When I got home I felt a little crampy and had some brown discharge in my underwear. It didn't really look chunky enough to be my plug but could be part of it. I'm thinking I should pack our bags this week...

That's a big baby! I agree that it would be ideal to go into labor on your own. Pitocin does indeed suck. I have no experience with having water broken for labor. Mine broke and then I went into labor. Good luck with the progress and decisions though!

Big baby! My baby is measuring really big too, they guess he'll be 10 pounds, which is huge for me. But I wouldn't induce at all if I were you. If they break your water you'll most likely end up on Pitocin as well as they have time limits for how long you can wait before having the baby with your water broken, and if they hold off on the Pitocin it could even end in c-section.
