Went to the doctor today...she wants to do an amnio in two weeks (last week of July) to make sure lungs are developed, then induce. Some of you remember that Blake has a rare umbilical cord issue which has been monitored twice weekly for the past few weeks, including this week and next. After next week's appointments, I will have the amnio and hopefully deliver that day or have steroids to mature the lungs and deliver 48 hrs later.

Does anyone have information on amnios this late in the pregnancy? I'm pretty terrified of it!

I had an amnio with dd to check for lung development. I was scared but they monitor baby the entire time via ultrasound to guide the needle. However all though everything went great for me, if u are really nervous request the steroids anyway and decline the amnio...

My doctor won't do the steroids without the amnio....ugh! But I'm glad to hear everything went well. That makes me feel much better!

Yea, just stay relaxed and avoid sweets that morning. I say that because you want the baby to remain still versus active. Good luck. Hope all goes well t&p

I had a lung amnio with Cole and I just did one with Finley. The needle is a little painful but nothing ridiculous and the entire procedure lasted maybe 15 minutes. They give you an ultrasound first to find a good pocket of fluid and then they prepare the area. There is a tech doing an ultrasound the whole time the doc is going in with the needle so the doc (and you if you want) can see the needle going in. The results come back in like 2-4 hours, I've noticed faster if they are mature. Both of my babies had mature lungs at 37 weeks.

Please feel free to ask me any other questions you might have Good luck and it will all be ok
