What kind of wrap would you recommend for a plus sized Mommy?

I still haven't bought one, still thinking of the Moby but not 100% yet. I'm worried the size won't fit- I am usually about a size 16. And with the wraps being so expensive, I am worried about spending that much money on something I can't use.

I did get a sling a few weeks ago when Zulily was having a sale but I'm not sure if I want to use it bc I really wanted a wrap.

This is the sling I got: http://www.slinglings.com/

I was a 14/16 after my first. I had a moby style wrap that fit, but I would have preferred another yard to have more flexibility in the tying. The thing about the moby wraps though is that there is absolutely NO reason to spend that kind of money on them, all you need is a big strip of jersey fabric from the fabric store, which you can usually find for about $2 a yard. You don't even have to hem it at all. Moby is about 6 yards, I'd suggest 7 yards of a stretch jersey/t-shirt material. So for $14 and the time it takes to put a mark or sew a button on the middle to help line everything up, you'll have a "moby" fit for you.

I also had a pouch sling, it hung across my chest like a beauty pageant sash. My baby loved it, but it was not the most comfortable for me. My favorite was (and still is, 3 babies and MANY various body sizes later--I've ranged from a 10-18 at various times in my 5 years of having babies) an asian style/mei tai carrier. I found mine for $20 at a children's consignment store and absolutely adore it. Mine even has pockets!

hope that helps!

I have one wrap and a ring sling so far but I want to get another wrap like one for the diaper bag/on the go. I saw a no sew wrap tutorial on youtube and think Im going to try it. Im plus sized as well and I want to make sure I get something that I dont feel me and baby are squished in. I figured the no sew one I can just make it as long as I need it. As for ones you buy from a store I have no idea hope someone else can give a good recommendation

Thanks ladies! I'm definitely not opposed to making my own- I sew, so I could definitely handle doing that

And I'd much rather spend 15 than 50 lol!

I am a size 14 but I have never tried anything but my ring sling, which I love. I always thought the moby wrap would look funny on me. LOL

I'm around a 16/18 and most wraps I have tried/made fit me fine. The moby fits, but because the material is thick, it's harder to tie and it's HOT. I tried out my gauze wrap yesterday and it fits perfectly and is super comfy.

it is super easy to make wraps, check out clearance sales to find cheap fabric. Most knits come in 60" width and you can cut it in half lengthwise and get two wraps from the same amount of fabric. I generally use 5 yard lengths, but 6 would be fine too without being TOO much.

I've had the plain ones from walmart, they cut into my back. I've tried a sling, I can't ever get baby comfortable where the wrap doesn't stretch way out. My favorite is a mei tai (my friend makes/sells them on etsy) and she just made me a new one for our newest arrival I'm excited to try it out!

I've heard the Boba wrap is good for plus size. I haven't ordered one yet, but I keep looking at them.

She doesn't have anything listed right now, she's working on adding more, her link is here

easycure.etsy.com

If you click on her past sales, you can see some of what she's made. If you message her, she could work with you want/like I've had several and she makes itty bitty ones for toddlers and little girls (Cassidy has two and loves them both!)
