Do you notice the sciatic pain at all during labor/birth?
My leg is killing me all the time especially changing positions, and my goal was an unmedicated birth. I was wondering if others have dealt with the two and how that goes?
Does the pain/pressure elsewhere distract from the sciatic pain?
Or does it make getting in a good position for birth terrible?

Thx!

I do not have sciatic pain (at least not 100% of the time, only when I move a certain way) but I would be willing to bet that your body will help tell you what's most comfortable when you're in labor. Do you have any positions now that are less painful? I hope you're not even aware of it once labor starts, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I have sciatica and while in labor it was hard to move positions sitting or laying on the bed, I ended up laboring standing up. That was the best position for me.

I didn't notice the sciatica pain much while in labor. I had a water birth and that definitely helped because it was so easy to move and there was no outside pressure on my body since I was basically floating, so try a tub as long as possible

Lurking from dec, I'm on my fifth pregnancy and had sciatica issues with all of them, never during labor. I did get an epidural but later in labor.

Thanks ladies. I'm thinking standing up might almost feel best to me too. Laying down and sitting, then changing positions from one to the other is a brief moment of torture! I can't imagine how this works out well with no meds. Hoping the body does lead you in the best direction though.
I wish their was a tub but that isn't an option, just a shower.
