Will keep it short... unlike the labor itself!
Woke up on Monday with bad diarrhea and quite strong contractions but they were far apart. Couldn't lie in bed so got up and watched TV for a few hours unlike DH woke up. Didn't mention to him that I thought I might be in labor as I wasn't sure at this stage. Contractions came and went throughout the day but I carried on with normal life, going to shops etc. In the afternoon I tried to sleep but could not lie down as the contractions were way worse. This carried on all through the night with contractions coming about 5 minutes apart but never closer. I couldn't sleep and was getting super tired by this stage. Phoned the Doctor in the morning and he said to come in and he would see if he could speed things up. He examined me and I was 4 centimeters. He broke my waters and hoped this would speed things up but made no difference. Started me on pitocin which definitely got things going but not quickly. I didn't find the contractions too bad but was just exhausted having been awake for so long by this stage. Labored until about 8 pm that night and stalled at 9 cm. The doctor said it was not going to happen naturally anymore and he wasn't sure why but perhaps the baby was too big. I had to have caesar which I really didn't want and was in tears but had no choice by this stage. Hated the caesar as much as I thought I would be luckily got me to the end of an exhausting labor! He was born at 8:52 pm, 40 hours after going into labor. He was a whopping 10.25 pounds with a huge head that had started to descend and has got stuck as he was just too big.
I would do the natural process again in a heartbeat as I really loved the experience and really hope that my next baby is not SO big and I can try for my VBAC.
At home now and loving being a mom!
Congratulations! That sucks that his head got stuck, but makes sense why you had so many contractions but not very fast progress. Sorry you had to have a C but I'm glad you have your precious baby now!
