I haven't been tested for diabetes and I was wondering why. I'm not sure if they only test "high risk" or if there are symptoms. I really am clueless, sorry ladies. My eating habits are nowhere near healthy and I'm starting to worry that if I in fact do have diabetes and are just not aware of it that I could be making matters worse. Sorry for the ignorance but I've done some searches online and the information is very vague. Thanks ~Sara

It's not usually tested for until somewhere from week 24-28. Apparently, it's caused by the hormones in the placenta and it's not until that time that the hormones have enough of an effect to cause the glucose intolerance. Those who are diagnosed earlier generally have had it before or know they're at risk for, say, type 2 diabetes.

You will probably be screened for it at around 26 weeks.
