Hi everyone! My doctor has me checking for ketones every morning. They said I would probably see them for at least the first week or two I'm on the diet. Of course, I do see them, and it freaks me out... Is there anything I can do to make them go away? Or is it just something that takes time? Thanks!
My numbers are good. I'm usually between 100-115 one hour after meals, fasting is always in the low 80s. The only time I really have trouble is the morning, but I've been walking to get that number lowered. I drink about five bottles of water a day... Is it possible that I would need more?
What is your diet like? The normal:
30g carbs breakfast
15g carbs AM snack
45g carbs Lunch
15g carbs after lunch snack
45g carbs dinner
15g carbs PM snack
I always have high after breakfast numbers so my doctor had me cut my carbs to 15g and NO FRUIT ALLOWED with breakfast and that did the trick....I just added an extra protien with my morning meal. Have you talked to your OB about the high morning numbers?
I hate to say it but sometime GD is about finding the right balancing act for your body. Work close with your doctor and keep a food diary to go over with him at your appointments! Or if you saw a nutritionist call them for advise. After a few weeks you will be an old pro at this
My diet is the same, except I get 30g of carbs for my snacks. I have my appointment with the perinatologist tomorrow, so I'll ask him about the ketones. As for the high morning numbers, as long as I walk, I'm always under 140. I'm just hoping they can give me some good ideas on the ketones... Thank you for all your input!
I had high Ketones when I was pregnant with my daughter.. I tried eating more protein,etc.. nothing helped.. Except for insulin.. I had high FBS (above 90) so once I started insulin at night the Ketones disappeared.. Crazy..
My fasting sugars are always good, usually at 80 or so. My ketones have started to get better the last day or two... I definitely ate way more yesterday than I normally would, so hopefully that's all it will take..
