I posted on the old GD board when i was preg with my last. I had insulin dependent GD with my daughter. Im pegnant again, and praying i dont get it again. I have a midwife and hoping for a homebirth, but that will only happen if i dont have to go on insulin. My midwife thinks the reason i got GD with my last preg was because I was very malnourished (i dont have any other predetermining factors)...even more so after i got diagnosed. She has me on the Brewers Pregnancy Diet...im eating a ton! Anyone else tried the Brewers Diet?
Thank you Mom2*Lauryn*Jacob* for my gorgeous siggie!
I have had GD with my last two and unfortunately am dealing with it again. I didn't need to take insulin, but I think I probably would have with my son if he hadn't been born prematurely. I had just gotten diagnosed and ended up having him about three weeks later. My blood sugars were very high with him. I am not sure how being malnourished would cause you to have GD. I admit that I don't know that much about GD even though I should by now. How did you do with your carb intake when you were pregnant before? I think that was a lot of my problem. I used to be a vegetarian so most of my diet came from carbs and it made it really hard to lower my carbs.
Missing my Mommy Weightloss & Fitness girls. You're the best!
The theory behing the malnourishment causing GD is this....I was not taking in enough calories...and deffinatly not enough protein. When your body isnt getting enough nutrition it will start making extra insulin at the wrong time to compensate....i think thats what she said..lol. Here is the link to the brewers diet....my midwife loves it
