I know this is from a diabetic seniors website, but I thought that the list looked pretty helpful. And the recipes looked yummy.

Thanks for the link. Some of the ideas looked good for me but others looked blech. I am going to have to mix and match. I didn't do good today for breakfast but I think I did pretty good for lunch and dinner. I miss my carbs though.

That is my toughest meal. I am not a breakfast person to begin with. I have to force myself to eat then.

I usually do:

Scrambled eggs and a piece of wheat toast with butter.
Apples and cinnamon oatmeal packet.
Wheat toast with peanut butter.
Bob Evans egg, cheese, and sausage on english muffin thingy you microwave.
Banana and wheat toast with butter and a handfull of nuts.
Dunkin Donuts eggs and cheese on an english muffin

I'm not a big breakfast person either.... I get my best numbers when I eat egg on whole wheat toast, but I'm not really a fan of it. I usually have two pieces of whole wheat toast with a little peanut butter, and a cheese stick. If I don't get that protein my numbers are a little higher than I'd like.

I have been doing peanut butter toast too. I wasn't sure if that was okay. I need to read the carb count. I also bought some eggs. I don't mind eggs for breakfast but I can't eat them every day.

my favorite breakfast is a dunkin donuts ripoff. I take 2 eggs and mix em in a bowl, add 2 oz of sausage chopped up and some cheese on top. Then I microwave it, (oh yeah, microwave eggs, LOL) and cut the circle in half. put one half in a tortilla and that is breakfast for me. 15g carbs, and 2-1oz servings of protein. the other half I put in the fridge and reheat for breakfast the next day

I didn't realize how much of a carb breakfast person I was until I got GD. My normal breakfast now is either
cottage cheese, a yogurt, some blueberries and a pepperoni stick OR
a whole wheat english muffin with natural peanut butter and blueberries OR
some sort of eggs with yogurt and fruit.

I miss my bagels and cereals

Great thread! Breakfast is the hardest meal for me. I usually do a whole grain eggo waffle with some peanut butter, half a small banana sliced on top with some cinnamon; eggs, sausage, cheese and salsa in a tortilla or a egg and cheese on a whole grain english muffin. I need some variety lol

I think if I remember correctly when I was pregnant with kaylee I lived on eggs and meat.
And my favorite thing to eat was home made (store bought) egg Mcmuffins.
I found some low carb english muffins I would toast them, put a slice of cheese, and egg and some ham, bacon or sausage. The low carb muffins are hard to find but they are out there.

I'm not a big breakfast person either and I hate eggs.I have done ok with like a cup of yougurt and some cheese. I have also done ok with a small lunchable the one with only like 8 crackers, slices or turkey and cheese.Once in a while I would cheat and get a sausuage and cheese crroisant from burger king. I bought some of those red smoked sausage links and those are tricky some days I'm over 140 and some days I'm no that's eating 2 on bread.Yesterday I ate 1 on bread with grits packetand was less than 140 meals are so tricky. Also my choices may affect some different since I am now on insulin I think that controls my sugars better than the glyburide some may be taking.

Idk if your carb allowance is the same but I can only have 30g for breakfast so I have

2 eggs scrambled with cheese, sometimes add spinach or sometimes onion, bell pepper or other veggies
2 slices Double Fiber wheat toast since it is only 8g per slice, (minus the 5g fiber as the dietician said you can minus the fiber from carbs if it as least 5g fiber)
Use cream cheese with sugar free jelly since both are free foods
Boost Glucose control shake, 16g

Sometimes I will eat the eggs on the toast with mayo.

Or cottage cheese with no sugar added canned fruit, Libby's brand is too sweet and artificial tasting so I eat Del Monte, but together that is 13 grams then I can have a Chewy Granola bar for 17g (chocolate chip) or even a regular yogurt, about 16-17g depending on type/flavor.

If you do not like eating breakfast, you could try a Kashi GoLean Crunchy granola bar for 24g (total minus 6g fiber) plus the EAS AdvantEDGE CarbControl Protein shake, both found at Wal-Mart in the 'Pharmacy' section with all other Diabetes and bodybuilding and SlimFast stuff. (The shakes are lots cheaper at Wal-mart, compared to Walgreen's at almost double price)

The first meal idea ends up being 32 grams of carbs but that seems to do just fine for a good reading.

My numbers come in great with 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and a glass of milk. Im allowed 45g. If I have time I'll replace one piece of toast with an egg..These fill me up for about 3 hrs too!

Wow, 45g? I was lucky if I could have 30 when I was pregnant. I ate these Weight Watchers breakfast sandwiches - egg and cheese on an english muffin. Post babiy I do a slimfast or a bagel thin with butter and a glass of low carb milk.

I get 30g of carbs for breakfast. And my normal is 1 toaster waffle with peanut butter & a lowfat yogurt.

Target has some awesome NON-fat yogurt (don't get their low fat b/c have have like 30g of carbs in them). They are think and creamy and come in flavors like caramel apple, pomegranate cherry, Boston cream pie, pumpkin pie, strawberry cheese cake, and all the normal stuff too. YUM! And they are under 50 cents a yogurt!
