I've only been testing my glucose for about 3 weeks now. And I'm ready to quit. If nothing else, this GD is going to inspire me never to get type II diabetes.

It's constantly on my mind: when can I eat? What can I eat? How many carbs are in that apple?? It's annoying. I want to think of something other than food and testing.

I know exactly what you mean. How often are you testing?

I'm testing four times a day. I love after lunch when I have a good six hours without having to think about testing.
I don't even mind the testing that much--it's just the fact that it's ALWAYS on my mind.

Yeah, four times is a lot. I am doing that too. I think it gets better though after you get to know what works for you. Also, remember not to freak out if your sugars go up around week 34. That's when the peaked for me and I went nuts because they changed so much. Now it's back down again.

I think the saddest day for me so far was my shower. My family tried so hard to make it nice for me, but the menu was:

1. cold cuts (can't eat b/c of listeria)
2. on white rolls
3. with homemade mac and cheese that was mostly pasta with a little bit of cheese
4. cookies
5. chips
and
6. cake.

The only thing I could eat was the cheese slices from the cold cuts.

That is a super sad shower menu. However catering to GD diet is a little tricky...and pretty boring!
