I did my 3hr this morning and these were my results:

Fasting 51
1hr 155
2hr 204
3hr 81

Now he said that my 1hr should be 154 or below, so I failed by 1 point. I think he said the 2hr should be about 180, but I don't remember for sure, I just remember him saying it was to high. And my 3hr was low. Also my fasting was low. Now I've found several sites that state the results should be this:

The following are the values which the American Diabetes Association considers to be abnormal during the 100 g of glucose OGTT:
Fasting blood glucose level ≥95 mg/dl (5.33 mmol/L)
1 hour blood glucose level ≥180 mg/dl (10 mmol/L)
2 hour blood glucose level ≥155 mg/dl (8.6 mmol/L)
3 hour blood glucose level ≥140 mg/dl (7.8 mmol/L)

So by these values I only failed one, at the 2hr mark. Which would mean I wouldn't have GD. So I think I'm going to call tomorrow and talk with the nurse. Cause I really don't feel like checking my sugars 4x a day if I don't need to. Tomorrow the diabetes educator is suppose to call me to set up an appointment so I will be sure to speak with her about this as well.

So I was wondering what your ladies results were. I mean I understand many doctors have different opinions but I've found these same results on many sites.

Yours are almost identical to mine. My only high one was the two-hour one. The guidelines have been changing over the past several years, and some recommend diagnosing gd with one elevated reading while others recommend two. So it depends on who you ask. I was labelled gd and went through the whole thing. On one hand, I didn't mind watching my diet just to be healthy anyway. On the other hand, I'm not a big fan of all the extra test (ultrasounds, non-stress tests etc) that go with it too, and the way I felt constantly threatened with induction, c-section, etc if they ever find anything "wrong" on the tests. Especially since ultrasounds are notorious for miscalculating size and non-stress tests are not always so accurate either. It's a lot of stress to go through. I would say get as many different opinions as you can. If you do wing up checking sugars definitely stop by here with questions! I wish I had asked more from ladies who went through this.

I agree that there are different opinions on the levels, which is so frustrating. I have read from a few sources that even one result over 200 can justify a diagnosis of Gd. I had one over 200, too. Stupid 2-hour result.

Definitely let your dr. know that you realize how close you were to passing and that while you will follow the diet rules, you don't want to be bullied into inductions or c-sections, since really, you wouldn't be classified as GD according to some guidelines.

So I do have GD. I guess my doctor went over the results with me backwards so when he was talking about the 2hr I thought he meant the 1hr. But my results were actually:

Fasting 81
1hr 204
2hr 155
3hr 51

So my fasting is fine and not super low like I thought. It also explains why I started shaking and almost passed out on the way home. I wondered why I felt so low if my sugar was 81 at 3hrs. So since it was 51 that explains it.

I do have to test 4x a day. Fasting and then 2hrs post each meal.

I met with the Dietitian today and she gave me a diet to follow. Not sure how well I will do on it as she wants me to eat more food than I do now. I figured I will continue eating the way I normally do for a few days and see how my levels run, if they are in fact high I will try to follow the diet more. Of course I will cut out sugary drinks and foods now, not that I really have much of that anyways.

Although I did already fail my post lunch today, but I knew I would. We stopped for lunch and I ordered a Cherry Limeade to drink, after I ordered it I remembered I should have probably had water or a diet, but I love cherry limeade and really wanted it and I've drank nothing but water for days. My BS was 150, so not to high.

My after dinner level was 108 so that was good, and I even had a bite of my moms brownie. I was worried about failing this one as well because we went to the Casino for dinner. But I guess I made good choices on what to eat.

Your numbers are not too high. You should be able to control it pretty well by making small changes. Yeah for a good post-dinner test! The sweet drinks can really throw you. So you might be good just by cutting out the desserts and sweet drinks and not changing much else. I think it's a good idea to see what your sugars are like on your normal diet. I never did that in the beginning. I was really strict from the start, and then I always wondered if I would have been ok on a less intense diet. Good luck!

Just out of curiosity, what number are they telling you to stay under for the two-hour test after lunch and after dinner?

They said I should be under 120 2hrs after meals. But that was from the Nurse at the diabetes office, I haven't seen my doctor since the day he told me my results. Is that normal or were you told a different number?

Today I ate as I normally do. My fasting (at 830a) was 94, which I was told to be below 90. But I did eat dinner at 6pm and didn't eat again until breakfast, so my guess is it was going up because it had been so long since I ate.

After breakfast was 84 and after lunch was 103. I haven't tested after dinner yet cause we just finished an hour ago. But I didn't change my diet and I even ate the Maple and brown sugar flavored oatmeal for breakfast even though she said it would probably raise my sugar. So hopefully this will mean I don't need to do to much of an adjustment right now. But I know that the farther along you get the higher your sugars can become so I will be sure to watch for that and change my diet accordingly then.
