Well, my follow up was Wednesday, I handed in my meal record and blood levels for the previous week. They all looked good except for the first number of the morning before breakfast. It's not a hugely high number, and the nurse said if I was further along they most likely wouldn't give it a second thought, but given that I am only just into my second trimester, they want me to take one shot of insulin before bed. Boo. I was pretty upset about it, but feeling better now... for now I should say. I haven't seen or spoken to the endocrinologist yet, and was told if I don't hear from someone by Monday, to give the nurse a call. Monday is a holiday, so I'll be waiting 'til Tuesday. The number she wants to see in the morning is 5.2, and mine have been 5.4 - 5.6, not a big jump, but I guess enough at this point. Ugh. Anyway, trying to stay positive! The diet is finally becoming routine, and I've even found some treats that work for me that don't eat up all my carb allotments, and taste good.

Sorry to hear about the high morning numbers, but maybe it will make things easier to take a little insulin. I read somewhere that you multiply your numbers by 18 to change to US numbers. That would mean your morning ones are between 95 and 100 in our system. That's not very high, but my doc did recommend morning ones less than 90. I heard the insulin injection is less painful than the finger sticks, so it shouldn't be too bad.

What treats did you find? Please share!

Sorry to hear about the p.m. insulin shots. But your attitude is fantastic, considering that. I have also found myself craving healthier foods now since I've started testing.
I have negative connotations now with junk sweets since they make me spike. Cupcakes are basically evil. LOL
But the oranges in my fridge right now?? Heaven.

We're also using 5.2 as my fasting baseline, if I get two morning fastings above that, I go up two units of nph the next night. I started at 16 I think at 5 weeks, and I'm now up to 28 at night, not too bad. So far I'm still on nothing with meals, those numbers are still good.
((hugs))
