I have noticed that I am having some hot flashes where I get hot and almost like i am sweating. I thought this might be because I am eating less now or something, but a friend said that it might be just because I am 40 and my hormone levels are more out of wack than with previous pregnancies.
Dont know if this has anything to do with the GD or not. Anyone else have these?

i had that all the time

Menopause and diabetes produce similar symptoms

You may mistake menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, moodiness and short-term memory loss for symptoms of low blood sugar. If you incorrectly assume these symptoms are a result of low blood sugar, you may consume unnecessary calories in an effort to raise your blood sugar, and inadvertently cause a surge in blood sugar.

Because of your diabetes, however, you may experience stronger and more frequent episodes of low blood sugar, especially at night. This can further compromise sleep already interrupted by menopause-associated hot flashes and night sweats. Such sleep deprivation can cause fluctuations in blood sugar that make control more difficult.

Oh no, I wasnt meaning to say that I was in menapause at all. I just turned 40 and I am pregnant. I was just talking with a friend about that I was having some hot flashes and didnt know if those were from the GD or not. She just had her baby last week she wasnt GD, but her daughter has had type one for 11 years now, anyway, her midwife had told her that when you are pregnant at 40, which I just turned June 12th, and which she is also, that your homrones really work overtime to make things work right and that it can cause hot flashes when they surge, like at night or early morning. She mentioned that this also could be why I have such a hard time with my fasting numbers because of the hormone surges.
