I'm 3wks 4 days along and don't have my first dr appt till jan 23rd.....ugh...this is hard. I try no to think about the baby so time will go faster, but you have to remember what not to eat, to take a prenatal vitamin, etch, so that doesn't work. Anyone else wish this next month or so would fly by???

I know EXACTLY what you mean! Even though I know Im pregnant, I want to see the baby and know he/she is ok! It feels like forever away!

I was definitely wishing this month away so that i could get to the heartbeat stage, but I am trying to make myself live in the moment and enjoy my pregnancy! This is my first pregnancy and I will never have another first again! What's meant to be, will be, and all we can do is take care of ourselves and our babies! It will be here before we know it!

Do you know what your doctor is going to be doing at your first appointment? Are you getting an ultrasound?

Teeny, at the first appt, you'll typically do a transvaginal ultrasound. Because the baby is so tiny at this appt, they can't use the regular kind over your belly. This one looks kind of like a penis shape and goes inside to see. Awkward with your signif other there. They'll do some measurements to gauge the approx age and give you a due date. Then after you've gotten a few pics to take home, you'll meet with your dr or a nurse on what to do/ not to do. At pretty much every appt, you'll pee in a cup.

I can't wait till next month, but I'll try to make myself "live in the day".

every dr is different Teeny...they do things differently if you are wondering what will happen call them up and ask to see what they do at each appt and at what weeks they will see you and get your ultrasounds...

Sue, according to the due date calendar on here I'm 3 weeks and 4 days too - our babies will be twins!

I understand completely. My doctor wants me in on Wednesday to redo my blood test - I was 25 hcg on Friday (10dpo) and even though she said its in the normal range, she wants to make sure that its going up. I'm so nervous that it won't be. It is agonizing waiting - I thought waiting to get pg was bad, but this might be worse!! Thinking good thoughts to you and Teeny to make the time fly by!!

Yay Mrsking! I would loooooove to have a "normal" pregnancy this time and deliver after 33 weeks, so I'll cross my fingers for our 'twins' . I think I've taken 4 preg tests so far...this waiting just isn't very reassuring, you know? Oh we'll, it will be a loooong ride, so I just need to put on my big girl panties. Good luck at your dr appt Mrsking- I'll say a prayer for you.

My doctor said at the first appointment all they are going to do is either a blood test or a pee test to confirm Im pregnant! Cant I just bring in my 6 tests Ive already taken? LOL!

So my first appointment is next week but it sounds like it wont be anything exciting!

I think the baby is so small right now that they couldn't measure wh they need to yet. At least it's another confirmation that this is really happening.

Mom2, is that when your dr usually sees patients? My office saw me at 7 wks with my other two but this time said they won't till 8-9 weeks...not sure of th change. I just want to go!

Just lurking from the June13 DDC. I first saw my doctor at 8 weeks. They did a pap because I was due for one and just did a pee test to confirm my pregnancy. It's not a big deal and you usually just answer a bunch of questions. Most doctors won't do an ultrasound until your NT scan at 12-14wks unless you've had previous issues. Good luck! I remember how awful the waiting was!

I've been to a lot of different doctors and they usually prefer to see my from 8-12 weeks. I'm going to a different birth center than I did last time and my first appointment is January 17th. I'll be 8w2d at that point. I have a Doppler that I may try to use the week prior but mostly, it's just the waiting game. BOOOO! I don't know if I will get an early ultrasound or not. I assume they will do bloodwork since all of my doctors have done that in the past.

Hi Everyone,

Got good news today. At 16dpo my hcg was at 300 - up from just 25 last Friday. Was very relieved to hear that!

Despite this I still am so anxious about everything.....I bought more HPTs today. I know I'm going to drive myself crazy with worrying and that it can't be good for the baby. Its my first pregnancy and I guess I just don't know what to expect. Anyone else feeling this way??

That's great news!! How many dpo were you when your hcg was 25?

I will get an ultrasound between 6 and 7 weeks if I do not miscarry before then. It will be vaginal and basically it is a dating scan and to see if the baby is measuring alright and possibly to see a heartbeat.

Mrsking- yay!!!!!! That's awesome news! Congrats. And you're not alone in buying more HPTs....I got a dollar store test the other day and tried it to make sure. My husband thinks I'm nuts.

I'm having a hard time this time. Generally I prefer pretty hands-off pregnancies, minimal ultrasounds, etc., but I've had two early miscarriages this year and I am not even going to let this one sink in until I've seen a beating heart on the screen. I'll be going in for progesterone testing, probably Monday. Maybe this one will stick.

Workerbeemama - I was 10dpo on Friday. And realized I was a day off the test this week - so hcg was 25 at 10dpo and 300 at 15dpo. Praying it keeps rising just like that!

Suesue - thank you!! Glad I'm not alone in still taking hpts!!

Sk8tr - sending you lots of sticky dust!!

I just booked my first OB appointment! I go on Jan 30, when I'll be 9 weeks. So round 2 of waiting begins! They didn't say anything about an ultrasound (or tell me to drink the water, etc.) so I'm assuming I'm not having one....is that unusual? I'm going to a midwife practice - could that be why? Does this mean that I won't really know if the baby is okay based on the appointment? I have so much to learn from all of you veteran moms!!

I've only ever been to my OB and she's always done an ultrasound at the 8th week or so appt to set the DD and do measurements, etc. this waiting does suck....not a patient person
