I found a new OB closer to where we are living now and went in on Tuesday or Wednesday to sign a medical records release and they were supposed to fax it to my previous OB. I call today to see if they have received my records yet, since they won't schedule an appointment until after they've received them and she said they didn't. I call my old OB and they said that they never even received a fax...

So, I call the new OB back and ask them if they could refax the form and the response was "Oh, yeah. That happens a lot. Our fax machine is retarded. I'll go use somebody else's fax."

o.O Typically, the word retarded doesn't bother me and I'll admit that I do use it sometimes but coming from what is supposed to be an office professional...who has no idea who I am?? It really bothered me.

I am going to wait and see how I like the midwives/OB's there but I am already considering finding a different office.

That's tacky!
That became a common word to use while I was in high school and sometimes I still catch myself saying it but I can't imagine a professional using that word like that! She doesn't know you, what if she severely offended you.
Maybe it was a young, new office assistant or sonething.
"Goofy" would have been a much better word or even "stupid"

Definitely not the most professional choice of words. That would have had me raising my eyebrows a little bit too.

ITA! She easily could have said anything else. Ridiculous, stupid, a pain in the butt, on the fritz.

Oh wow.. definitely unprofessional. So many other word options. I am guilty of saying that.. started in high school. I feel really bad when I say it without thinking

It always irks me too when you have to follow up on another person's job. I shouldn't have to call multiple times to make sure THEIR job was done.
