It thought it would be funny to announce today since it's April Fools Day. Should confuse alot of people!!! hehe.. and we told dh's family yesterday.

Some of it was a disaster, some probably productive. He said he was going to tell them as SOON as we got there. So, I pictured him putting his arm around me as soon as we got there and saying, we're having a baby!! Well- his dad hugged me in the driveway and kind of looked at my stomach and was going to crack a joke, but changed his mind. I gave my husband a look and said his dad was looking at my stomach. We went inside and his (step) mom was cooking-still nothing... I finally walk in the living room to see the new baby and I hear him tell her I'm pregnant and it's a girl. SHE said, WHAT! I came around the corner and said, "Don't be mad" and she said something about not being told and I said "he's your son, it's his responsibility". She said that I have a mouth too. I was upset and went for a walk because of the way the whole thing went down. It feels like he "threw me to the wolves" and didn't support me. I went for a walk and then brought him aside and told him. He was mad at me and couldn't understand why I was mad. Later on, his mom asked me something and I told her that I had told him for months to tell his parents. She said something about them always being welcome to more babies. She's never said anything like that before and that made me happy. There were congratulations exchanged and the only semi- negative thing was my FIL asking which one of us was going to get "snipped". So, overall it was successful.

Oh... I wanted to add that I am feeling SOO much better about my baby being a girl. My nephew was being a little terror at Easter Dinner. Also, I worked the nursery at church and got to hold a little 6 month old baby girl. She was so cute and so calm and quiet.

Sorry to hear about how things went down with your husband's family at first

I can sympathize with you though....the same sort of thing happened with us when we (he) told his family. We went over to his sister's house to tell her and her family TOGETHER. I went to use the bathroom right after we got there. When I walked out of the bathroom, I was met with stares of "shock". He had told them while I was in the bathroom. How did he tell them, you ask? He said "Welp, looks like I'm still good at making babies. Amber is pregnant and we are having a baby." His sister and BIL just stood there in complete shock...which was when I came out of the bathroom. Talk about being thrown to the wolves and being caught off guard.

Sorry it went badly at first But I'm glad it turned out well for you in the end!!!

LOL our husbands are dorks. we talked about it ahead of time too and I told him that I wanted to be there (not in the other room) and I told him to say WE'RE having another baby or something like that. Not that I'm "knocked up" like I did it all on my own AND when his mom got all upset because she is JUST finding out and she was yelling at me because "I have a mouth too" he didn't defend me ONE BIT he just stood there and made me look like the bad one.

Best day to come out of the pregnancy closet IMHO

Sorry your in-laws were such douchecanoes. With my first and second pregnancy I got yelled at by my MIL and my SIL. I didn't think it was up to his mom, but his sister joining in really took the cake. And the silly guy just stood there and took it, like we did something wrong.
At least this time around they've resigned themselves to the fact that I am ridiculously fertile. They were disappointed, but not mad.

I also announced on FB today. We have told very few people so far, and I'm a little evil, so I posted a picture of a negative test result with no caption and mass confusion occurred. Mwa ha ha!

I haven't encountered anyone who thinks it's an April fools joke yet. However, my husband's aunt must have found out from my MIL last night because as soon as I logged on this am to post the u/s picture, she had already written "I hear congrats are in order" I was like.... you ruined my April fools joke!!
