No one's even talking abt it. Have these shooting sprees become so commonplace?

I heard about it on Fox News on Friday night but I haven't been watching the news much this weekend. I know that 3or 4 people were killed and the cops shot and killed the gunman. I think at this point they are trying to find out why he did it. Its pretty scary!

I hadn't heard about it, though I'm glad the media isn't all over it. Seems like these sickos are trying to one up each other.

In a way its good that media is not giving them the publicity that they so don't deserve...but I also feel like its not big enough news anymore and that this kind of thing doesn't have the shock factor to people that media always strives for?? Thats bad isn't it? That shootings have become such ordinary news? He was heavily armed and killed 5 people 3 of whom were random strangers who were at the wrong place at the wrong time The other two were his father and brother! sick sick sick!

I have heard some people posit that if we stopped showing their faces and constantly talking about them it would help take away some of that imagined glory and infamy that some of those sick ppl want.

I work in Santa Monica and people here aren't even really talking about it. What is sad is that Obama visited that same day and so between that and the shooting, traffic was beyond horrific. It seemed like people cared more about the bad traffic than the causes of it. It's so sad though Santa Monica is pretty mellow though, so it was unexpected to have had something happen here.
