Wow, haven't been here in a while. Just wanted to update. My due date was Sept. 7th, but the Dr. changed it to Sept. 3rd and have a C-section planned for Aug. 27th, so just one more month! Arrggg... can't wait for it to come. So I was without medical care for a few months due to loss of insurance, but now going to dr. again and today had my blood glucose test (I tried to get out of it, being how I only have a month left, but the Dr. wouldn't let me ) and I failed! So now I have to check my blood sugar 4 times a day. I still have doubts about the accuracy of the test, and I did good with my eating all day today until tonight had horrible sugar withdrawals and ended up eating a candy bar and some chocolate chips.. ugg how am I ever going to be compliant? And what's the point, it's only a month away.. and my blood glucose was only 116 and they wanted it at 92... what's the big deal? I think I'm going to do my own fasting blood glucose test now that I have a machine and judge for myself. A couple weeks ago they did ultrasound and said the baby was behind in growth, have another scheduled for Aug. 7th.. at the time I also measured a week behind, and today I am 34 weeks 3 days, but measured at 37 weeks.. sigh... I believe it she is all up underneath my ribs. Just got her crib today. Now just need a swinging chair, some wipes, a few more essentials but almost ready. I can't wait. My last day at work is going to be Aug. 25th, but I think it's going to be hard because I'm already getting so worn out.

That's exciting that you have a date! And the countdown begins!!

As for the gestational diabetes, I really wanted a retest. But as it turns out, I have found my levels to me way higher than they should be. The Dr at my Diabetes clinic wasn't too concerned about my mealtime numbers but all my fasting numbers ( your morning check before breakfast) were wayyy to high. Which basically confirmed the GD. I'm now on insulin, ugh.

If your fasting numbers are good, they will probably just get you to manage your diet. If you eat junk food or whatever and your levels go up, write it down so they know it's because of what you ate, not GD.

It must be so exciting having everything come together. She's gonna be here before you know it!!

Stupid glucose test.. I think it just really adds to the stress too.

Glad you have a c-section date scheduled.. it will be here before you know it!

Sorry about your glucose stuff. So glad you finally have insurance again though. I am sure that was frustrating and a little worrisome too.

The GD is a pain. Luckily, my fasting numbers are always perfect unless I get up and eat something in the middle of the night, sometimes it's a little high. Was it your fasting number that was 116? They want fasting for me to be 80 or below. But, after drinking that sugary drink it's supposed to be 140 or less. ( I think) I still have sugar and deserts I just try to space them out. As long as my morning fasting numbers are still good, I don't worry.

that is pretty crazy, i have heard of other dr's using a much higher cut off. if your sugar feels too low though, do what you have to do

So since I posted this, I've checked my blood sugar twice. The first was a fasting and it was 86. The second time was a couple hours after a meal and it was 80. That is low. I plan to continue to do some checks, but not 4 times a day. I have always had 70 and 80 blood sugar the few times I've tested myself here and there... I actually have suspected I have the opposite problem, that maybe i'm hypoglycemic meaning producing too much insulin from all my yo yo dieting I've done over the years. So, given those two readings I plan to call the dr. and inform them that I will not be attending the diabetes class... not only do they not have a date available when I don't have to work, but i'm a nurse and I know enough about how to control blood sugar that I don't need a two hour class, that and I don't agree that I have it.

I will admit that I have not had the best eating habits before this.. been eating a lot of sugary foods and junk food.. like the king size candy I had the morning before appt. so I am making some efforts to control my sugar intake better...
