So I finally got around to doing it - 4 weeks late is better than never I guess.

Anyway, I felt like crap after drinking that stuff. Even an hour later when I left the lab, I felt kind of off to a point where I just came straight home and took a nap. Does this mean that I probably failed? Did anyone feel like crap and actually pass the test?

Just trying to mentally prepare for whatever I may hear at my appointment on Wednesday.

*Update*

I passed with a 120 which is supposed to be good (cut off for this test is 140). I guess you can't go by how you feel as any indication of a pass or fail result.

My blood pressure has gone up a little to 120/70 (it's normally 110/60), and I gained like 6lbs in the past 2 weeks for a grand total of around 15lbs!!! It's probably from water retention, so I'm going to cut back on some of the salt and carbs, but otherwise won't worry about it. My next appointment is in 2 weeks, and it will be with the surgeon - my c-section will be scheduled then.

We're getting close, ladies.

So how bad is it? Do you just have to follow a special diet and monitor your blood sugars? Do you have extra appointments because of it?

I was so hoping that I would have opened this thread back up and read something like, "Don't worry. Everyone feels like crap after drinking that stuff!"

I don't know about "everyone" but, I definitely felt like I wanted to heave after drinking it. I think that is the general consensus. I do have GD, but not bad. I only failed by a little and it is kept at bay by diet. Hopefully, you'll get good news. I only have to do two pokes a day. One in the morning, and one later in the day. lately I keep forgetting and only have the morning one which is always right on.

The drink always gives me the shakes and makes me feel all tweaky and gross.

I've passed all three times.

I felt like crap and I passed, but we only do a 2 h test here. I can tell you that I felt like crap way before the 1 h mark passed though!

I almost passed out in my mw's office and did throw up. I was shaky for awhile afterward (and I didn't fast).

My mw said then that she would more likely expect the results to come back hypoglycemic than diabetic with a reaction like that, FWIW. In reality, it all came back just fine.

That kind of a reaction is apparently called "reactive hypoglycemia" - in other words, a sugar crash caused by an unusual spike in carbohydrates in non-diabetic people.

I failed the one hour and felt really shaky during it and failed.

In the three hour I felt shaky and yuck the first hour (just like the first time) .. then fine the last two hours and passed all 3 hours.

So who knows!

I felt absolutely horrible after that test but I passed!

I had to keep my hands up by my face to stop myself from throwing up before they drew my blood and then when I went home I had my first ever nap during pregnancy (only for 5-10 minutes) but I was shaky for the rest of the night and felt like absolute poop!

I felt really awful after my one hour and failed, in the first two hours of my three hour I thought I was going to vomit/faint and then I started to get better. Turns out I failed my first one after the drink but passed all my other numbers. I have borderline high sugar anyway pre-pregnancy, but they don't consider me to have GD. I think you need to fail 2 of the 4 blood tests in the 3 hour test to be considered GD. They did say they'll keep an eye on my urine and if I start spilling sugar they'll make me do it again, :/

I feel a little better knowing that most of you felt weird after drinking that stuff...It was the closest to drunk that I felt since becoming pregnant!

I have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow morning, so we'll see what happens.

FWIW, I felt fine well almost..toward the end of the appt, ie at the one hr mark...I thought I felt a little off - nothing major though, I even thought I was may be imagining it. I passed, but just barely. They expect 130 and I was 127 I guess it seems to me like your reaction to the drink isn't really a good indicator of whether you'll pass or fail the test...I hope you pass though!

good luck! keep us posted. I will say that when I failed my one hour they let me know right away, so if you don't hear anything before your appointment it hopefully is a good sign. *fingers crossed*

I felt really tweeked out and had horrible hot flashes about 30 minutes after drinking it. I assume I passed since I took the test July 11 and no one has called to tell me otherwise GL!!

Both the 1hr & 3hr made me feel awful...at the 3hr I was so sick during first hour the nurse was concerned I was going to vomit everywhere and I almost passed out in front of her....was totally convinced based on how bad I felt ALL DAY after that test that I had definitely failed, but I passed! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!
