I was planning on gaining 30lbs MAX. Well, I'm now at 35lbs with 3-5 more weeks to go and with my last kind, that's when I gained 5 lbs each, week 40 and 41.

I'm not going to lie, when I see a cookie at work, I eat it. I probably could have at least kept off 5 lbs, but I'm also drinking TONS of water. Last pregnancy, I lost 30 of 40 lbs in one month. (That last 10 never left). I wanted to be good and ensure a modest weight gain so I could have all the benefits of less stretch marks, less strenous labour as they say on the intetrnet, but not to be.

Lower weight gain does not really equal less stretch marks, sadly. I only gained 12 lbs with DD and I have gigantic stretch marks over every inch of my belly. My BFF gained 80 lbs and looks exactly the same. It's all genetics. You think you're going to get away with it too, until the end. I swear it's the last month of pregnancy that puts them on if you're going to get them. I went so far past due...the last week I put on horizontal ones across the top of my belly in addition to my tiger stripes!!! Stinker child!

But it's like I said at the very beginning of our pregnancies I think. It doesn't matter if your weight gain is 0 lbs or 100, this:

will give you stretch marks if you are going to get them. There's just no way around it.

I've not gained a pound so far, which is great. I didn't need to gain any that's for sure.

I'm back to report that it looks like I'm making up for previous months with my weight gain. As of 2 weeks ago, I had gained somewhere around 8lbs or so...well I gained 6lbs more as of yesterday!

Oh well, I'll lose it after the baby is born.

I've gained about 30. I started out under weight though. My doctor seems pleased with it. I only gained 25 last time but that was from my pre pregnancy weight not counting all the weight I lost from morning sickness /:

At my 33 week appointment, I had gained about 20 lbs. I'm not sure what my grand total is now as that was a little over two weeks ago and I don't have another appointment until next week (and I don't own a scale at home - I have weight anxiety issues (that have been strangely absent throughout pregnancy)). I know at least my belly is bigger than it was two weeks ago, so it may be closer to 25 now.

I haven't really been trying to gain or not gain a particular amount. Being my first pregnancy, I had no idea what to expect and have been trying to eat as well as possible and let the pieces (or pounds, as it were ) fall where they may.

I figured going in with no expectations whatsoever would help me from feeling disappointed or discouraged. For someone who's fixated on weight a little bit in the past, I think I've been doing pretty well with not stressing about it. I hope that continues into post-partum when the bump is a lot less cute and I'm getting a lot lower quality sleep and showers but we'll see. I'm trying to just take it one step at a time and remember that I can and will be smaller again one day.

I also wanted to gain 25 max.....but that's out the window probably. My weight gain is at probably 25 pounds and I still have a little under 6 weeks to go. I have been eating less just because it's starting to get really uncomfortable. I also blame the weight gain on all the milkshakes/smoothies/ice cream that I've been craving the past month. Whenever I go out to dinner, I ask for the dessert menu at the same time as the main menu....lol. Also, the gelato at Whole Foods calls my name every time I go inside.....

I'm about the same as you. I've gained about 37. Although I would LOVE to be one who only gains 25 every time, or even 30... my "norm" seems to be 40. BLEH!

So knowing that I always lose the weight in the year afterward, I'm trying not to freak out. At least we will lose 20 lbs on day 1 & 2 of un-pregnancy.

Hang in there. 40 lbs isn't crazy. Most of it will probably come off easily.

i have to agree with tara, it will come off. often its those that don't gain much who find a way to gain some back after baby. idk how that works but i have seen it happen to many friends. i gained 22 with my first, 29 with my 2nd and i'm betting i hit 40 or close to it this time. i just keep gaining...but it will come off eventually.

Me and the scale aren't friends anymore and we haven't seen each other in months.
