The owl idea would be really cute. I was throwing around names for a faerie themed one earlier, and couldn't think of anything cute that wasn't Tinker Bell, but I do love Tink. Dragons are also a fun creature, and a "monster" for those liking Halloween.
The last DDC I was in was really worried about who was using which theme so we ended up with Lovebugs (yuck, those mate around here and get in people's HAIR lol) instead of some other cute things. Does anyone really care if there is a repeat theme? This is our DDC. No one else from any other DDC gets a say in what we do or if--Heaven forbid--someone uses their exclusive theme! Would you care if October 2014 loved something like our theme, and they really wanted to use it?
I think we'd be a lot happier just picking something we'd like instead of having to pick something we consider our "Mary Jane Watson" just because we're so worried about originality.
Personally I think we should pick something that isnt currently in use. I just think its boring when the ddc do the sames themes over and over again and lack imagination but thats just my opinion. I think we could find something that most people would be happy with that is unique. Who knows it all comes down to the polls and what the majority of us pick.

I was reading over this thread and saw the acorn theme mentioned several times and a few ideas popped into my head for that theme. What do you think, is the acorn theme a possible contender?

If we were to make sure we didn't use something any other playroom has used we wouldn't have any options. If we as a playroom like it who cares. IMHO can't please everyone lol
I like autumn acorns and woodland owlies personally. Totally have found some newborn hats for pics already!
I just googled "cute baby monsters" and found so many adorable monster illustrations (ex: My Creative Design Artwork: Baby Shower Monsters) - that'd be my vote. I'm not going to put something too fluffy or sentimental in my signature.. the monsters seem less old fashioned and more fun and colorful for kids.

Ooooh, I LOVE the idea of dragons! Little dragon babies, flames, treasure (that dragons love to collect!), flying up in the clouds, etc. Such a cute, cute idea!

To be honest the only ones mentioned so far that I am hoping don't end up being the theme are Alice in Wonderland and The Woodlanders.
Im an oddball.... when I think dragons, I think puff the magic dragon... then think about what that song really means about smoking pot. Wasn't it in a movie or something?? thats where I am getting it from, I can't think of it was. HA HA
