A question for anyone on progesterone suppositories. I am supposed to use half of an applicator each night. How on earth do you only use a half dose? I held it up to the light and inserted some, but I have no idea if it was half, nearly all or hardly any. Does it matter? I am going to call my doc tomorrow, but it just seems so odd to do a half of a suppository, especially having to save the other half for the next day... Ewwww...

I would definitely call tomorrow because that seems like an odd way to dose it. Also, I know most OBs prefer progesterone suppositories but the oral progesterone (Prometrium) will bring your levels up just as well. I have low progesterone (usually around 8) and have used the oral version 3 times with success.

Wow that is weird....
So you are taking the oral pill and trying to squeeze out half? Or is some sort of other way?
Sorry, I'm on the oral pill but vaginally so maybe I am picturing it wrong.

How many mg are you on a night?

I think she is just using the normal suppositories (like you would use for a yeast infection) and trying to measure half. You can take oral pills vaginally or orally, obviously....but I always thought it was silly to stick that little pill up your 'gina when you could just take it orally.....maybe that's just me. Lol. Progesterone also comes in creams and injections.

ah I see!!

Oh and the reason most take it vaginally is because orally it's all kind of crazy! I have heard from many people here and then my Dr mentioned it, that the side effects are far worse but the results are very similar. So I am not taking that thing orally ever! LOL!

I hardly had any side effects from it but maybe I just got lucky.

Yup, I am taking the cream vaginally. No idea if I got the right dose last night but there was some ahem... discharge this morning that was sort of warned about in the leaflet that came with it. Hoping that is a good sign.

You may want to ask on the TTCMA forum...
Pretty much no one over there takes it orally. i just *****umed we all used the oral pill version but now I know better! Maybe someone over there has the same instructions?
Or what about pgy after loss? i dont hang out over there but I would think someone over there would know.

GL!!!!

I went to my doctors office today and she said to buy a yeast infection med with a reusable applicator and use that. It made sense once she explained it to me. She said my progesterone is only a little low and this is just insurance against a loss, so that explains the half dose. She said I could also apply it internally using my finger, but that just seems super messy to me.
