I love nail polish. My nails are drying right now! (Essie - One of a Kind) I use Essie, OPI, Butter London, and Sally Hansen, all 3-free polishes. However, while they don't have formaldehyde and some of those other bad chemicals, they still stink. Has anyone gotten any info from their doc about using polish? I probably use it once a week. I have issues with my hands, so doing home manicures keeps my skin and nails healthier. I have read that it's ok in moderation, but my hubby who is oblivious to most things about pregnancy has asked me about it, so I thought I'd double-check! What do you think?

Hmmm I am not sure. I never really thought about it. Hope some of the other ladies have an answer for you.
I wish I could be more into my nails. They look so crappy all the time and I suck at doing them. And nailpolish always chips for some reason on me. I'm always jealous of people who keep their nails nice, LOL!

I wondered that myself, my toes are waaaay past due. I looked in What to Expect When You're Expecting book and they said painting your toes is good as long as you're in a well ventilated area. They suggested if you go to a pedi place make sure its well ventilated. They suggested waiting till your through the first trimester for hair dyes, but said pedi's are cool. huh. I'd be curious what everyone else has heard.

Back in the days when I learned to be a manicurist, there was a girl in my class who was pregnant and nobody said anything to her about it so I guess it's fine. I used nail polish a lot in my pregnancy with Alex and so does my friend who just had her 4th baby a few months ago and all her kids are perfectly healthy.

With nail polish and hair dyes you don't just have to worry about breathing in the fumes, they also absorb into your body through your skin/nails.

The 3-free polishes are safe to use, so enjoy your guilt free freshly did' nails Make sure you use non-toxic nail polish remover, or nail polish remover deemed safe for little kids. Only one I know off the top of my head is "piggy paint nail polish remover".

I didn't mess with it with my first pregnancy, I just did the whole natural look.

I still paint my nails all the time, I just use only 3-free products and if I go to a salon I make sure it's well ventilated or wear a mask (but I might go to a salon once in my pregnancy lol).
