Dh wants to buy me an ipad for a birthday/valentine's/mother's day/anniversary present. I was all for it before I found out I was pregnant, but now even though I still want it I kind of feel guilty about the purchase. Soooo....please help me decide whether to get it or not. I already have a mac, but it maybe would help with homeschooling because of the apps and such.
I had big plans to buy one in July and now with a baby on the way I'm not sure anymore either! I guess the only way will be to see if the money is still available for a purchase like that after we buy all the baby stuff we have to get.
I don't have an ipad, but I used my mom's ipod touch a ton when I was on maternity leave since I could operate it with one hand. I read a lot on it while I was nursing or rocking my daughter. Now I have an iphone and find it is really nice to have both for my daughter and myself. I say go for it.
I have one and I love it! Apps for homeschooling? Yes. Flashcards, spelling tests/practice games. Besides, if you have a hospital birth, it'll come in handy for you or dh. Well, maybe. The option would be there at least! I think I just slept when I could if I wasn't holding my LO.
You can download the kindle reading app and a ton of cute little games. And I don't know about the other ipads, but the ipad mini has an awesome camera and takes videos! It works better than my $600 camera! No joke So I'll be bringing my ipad to the hospital if only to take the best pics possible. DH can message them to family waiting in the other room while we do all the cleanup and bfing. Free wifi at the hospital, so no charge to send pics or texts from the phone.
Only downside is this...unless you get the one with it's own 4g or 3g whichever, you will not be able to access the Facetime/facebook or get online while riding down the road.

I mostly use my laptop but my DH uses the ipad, and I anticipate using it more than the laptop when the baby is here, because it'll be easier to handle with one hand. They're pretty neat! I don't see the difference between an ipad and a tablet though, if cost is an option. Apple isn't as great as it used to be, IMO.
