Well in my ideal world I would have went in and they said everything is perfect. Not quite the case but I can't complain. First I got into the office and within 30 seconds DH walks in. I was surprised becasue he left work early for the ultrasound last week and I didn't think he was going to be able to again. I love him so much. He said he wouldn't miss it.
Anyway, onto the ultrasound. She started transvaginally and I could tell she wasn't seeing what she wanted. She said she wanted to try externally. I asked if she saw anything, I was afraid the sac was gone. I didn't see it as clearly as I did last time. She said she saw the sac but couldn't get close enough to see what was going on in it. It ends up my uterus is tilted and has already raised up. She started looking and was able to see the sac again. This time she saw the yolk sac and small fetal pole but no heartbeat at first. She continued looking around and finally saw the flicker! The heart rate was 129. The only thing is everything is measuring 6w1d. I might be a couple days off on my O date but not 6 days. So this makes me a bit nervous. However, we have a heartbeat which is a blessing.
They are pretty pleased with it all but a cautious due to my m/c, the baby measuring a little small and the Dr. said the heartbeat was a little slow but not too slow.
I do feel better. I don't know how I am going to wait 3 weeks to go back again!!
Sorry that got long

Yay for a heartbeat!!! That's great news!!

Keep in mind that if she had a hard time getting a good look at things because of position that that could be why the dates are off. With my last pregnancy the baby measured a couple days behind but when she was able to get in a better position she was able to also measure the correct date. So try not to worry too much about it Sounds like you had a great scan!

Glad it went well! Does implantation have anything to do with that? Maybe you o'ed when you thought you did, but he or she was just a late implanter.

From googling during my miscarriage I found a site called missedmiscarriage.com (or something like that). Apparently, in some rare cases people with tilted uteruses are measured as being way behind in development or sometimes as having blighted ovums when they really don't. Just thought I should mention since you talked about the tilted uterus. It is all anecdotal and probably gives a lot of people false hope, but the common thread is that a tilted uterus throws u/s off.

Oops. The site is The Misdiagnosed Miscarriage Site. Not that I recommend anyone googling any more than necessary. Too bad we can't all have a beer and take a nice, long bath.

Chiming in from another DDC.

A tilted uterus definitely can cause measurements in early pregnancy to be off.

Also, implantation can definitely contribute as well. I am absolutely sure of my ovulation date (I chart) But, my first u/s (6 weeks) measured me 2 WEEKS behind), second (7 weeks) put me 9 days behind. Now I am consistently measuring 4-5 days behind O date. Looking at my chart, when I got a bfp and impl. spotting I am sure I didn't have implantation until 11dpo, which is 4-5 days later than normal for me. I also had slow rising HCG, whether that was a contributing factor, I don't know. This is the first pregnancy I have had that tested. As long as everything continues to progress at a fairly consistent rate you should be fine
