I'm going in next thursday, and should be about 8-9 weeks (who really knows yet) - which will they do? Hoping a regular one - the TV one sounds scary

I have no idea which one they would do, but I can tell you from experience that having a TV one is not scary at all!!!

The transvaginal is not uncomfortable at all. In anycase it's a thousand times better than a pap or vaginal exam!! I am going in for my u/s tomorrow as well, and I will be calling them to find out which one they'd do...will post back later after I find out.

Ok I just called them and they said it would be transvaginal. Thank God no full bladder!! But its wierd I thought I would be seeing the Nurse practitioner if not the doctor to go over my questions & concerns, but they said they is just an ultrasound appointment and I wont get a chance to really "talk" to anyone!! This is after all my first appointment...

I love the TV ones this early. You want one. The regular ones you have to have a very full bladder for, and for me it's painful. Sometimes they have to press really hard to see stuff. Transvaginal so much easier, and you aren't feeling like your bladder will rupture for an hour.

I totally freaked out when they came at me with TV one with I was pregnant with my son. I had never heard of one or seen one, and was like, "you are going to do what??...." lol

Oh, and you're covered. The lady will glance once to insert it, and then there's no peeking the rest of the time you're there.

I had the transvaginal one done last week - wasn't bad at all - it does't go in very far so don't worry about it at all if they end up doing that one!

My tech had me assist her in putting it in - must be a policy - and then once it was inserted she took over.

This was nothing compared to the other things that go on in checkup etc. that go along with pregnancy. We have lots of student doctors who want to look at things. When I was delivering I had midwife students, student doctors, regular doctors .. a whole gang of people - of course at this time you literally do.not.care lol

@Allie - I would care! I want a calm room and if a crowd comes in I will be unhappy!

I've had both for my previous pregnancies then I ended up losing. TV really isn't that bad though, not like I was thinking. But Monday when I went in I only had the regular one, she said she could see all she needed to see perfect without vaginal!

Because of some things that were happening during my daughters delivery I had 14 people in there - I'm not saying this is for every delivery, in fact I too hope my next one is a little calmer but when circumstances rise up during the delivery I was just saying at that moment you just don't care. You just want your baby out and healthy and I was oblivious to the others in the room

It will most likely be TV. This past ultrasound I had a TV and then she switched to regular because my uterus moved up early. I think she said it doesn't usually move up until around 12 weeks. The have me insert it and then she takes over. So they don't even look down there and you have something covering you.

After having 2 kids - I am not shy. I prefer the TV one. You can see so much more and I cannot hold my bladder right now.
