My OB is very nice. I am pretty sure that the majority of the ladies on this board know more than the ladies checking me in. The one doing my paperwork had no idea what a luteal phase was.

The exam was short. I have some scar tissue in my hoohoo from the stitches with DD2. Had about 13 vials that needed to be filled with blood. I blew chunks right after. I warned the lady I do best with a butterfly needle.

Weird thing is Ms. PHD wanted me to do the gestational diabetes test TODAY. At 8 weeks. She said that overweight women are at greater risk. So I thought, "OK... I am fat." Then I get to the lab, and I find out that EVERYONE gets the diabetes test this early from her! Fat, thin, doesn't matter! We all have to get it TWICE! I'm not upset that she likes to give them early, I'm upset that she made an excuse. My fat is no excuse. If she'd have bothered to ask, I could have told her I was hypoglycemic. I would bet money that I will never get Gestational Diabetes. With my condition, that drink is one of the things during pregnancy that makes me feel GOOD.

U/S bright and early on Monday. I wish it could have been today.

Huh. That is super early. I think I had it at around 20 weeks with DS. Not looking forward to that. The syrupy soda thing tastes way too sweet to me and then you get to sit and sit and sit while people come and go getting their blood drawn.

Good luck on the U/S, can't wait to hear how it goes!

Cautiously expecting a little one sometime in June, and always remembering my 5 little ones that left too soon.

weird..... I find that some doctor's really aren't up to date with some should-know procedures. My obgyn from my pp visit after my loss a couple weeks ago told me several things that aren't true. Or at least now aren't true. Makes me scratch my head.

I'm hypoglycemic too and also anemic so testing for GD always puts me on a sugar high.

I have only ever had it drawn once per pregnancy. I might not even do it this time since I do not have diabetes and have a very slim chance of having it.

Last time I tried to not do it, the doctor threatened to dismiss me from his care. I just fired him. lol Then my next doctor talked me into it.

....I wouldn't have had kind words for the doctor. I, personally, have never heard of getting that test THIS early, which is why my words wouldn't have been kind. Not to mention, I don't appreciate doctors sending you for tests when they don't get a full comprehensive history of your medical past. I'm being the bad guy here...I accept my role, so here goes: maybe look for another doc?? I understand she's nice and all but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with the appointment you had if I was you, which I'm not so maybe I over stepped and if I did, I apologize. I said my piece and won't mention it again.

GOOD LUCK AT THE U/S!!! I can't wait to see how baby is growing!!!!

That is strange! Do you like your dr in general? She sounds like a friend I have who pretends like she is being helpful but really she is somehow insulting you.

I think it is so annoying that doctors make you drink that sweet drink. They should offer you choices. When I did the test I had a choice between the orange drink or a mc donalds pancake breakfast with one syrup and no butter. I enjoyed that test

Wow, that's crazy to take it that early--especially if you don't have any symptoms!

I refuse the GTT. Last time my OB (who is my current one too) got in a tizzy about it until another Dr of mine called and set him straight telling him how sick it would make me because my body cannot process that much sugar at once. That shut him up lol (from a surgery I had I can't tolerate sugar anymore, at least not in that huge quantity in a short amount of time).

I am thinking about changing doctors. Going to wait till the u/s, though. I am too anxious to see if there is anything in there! lol

She shook my hand, and she's one that lets her hand hang there like a dead fish. I was afraid to squeeze it. Part of me wonders if she can actually catch a baby with a weak grip like that.

That is weird.. I know if you'd had GD in a previous pregnancy they usually have you do the glucose test around 9 weeks.

I only had to take it once last time and it was a root beer drink right there in the office.

that is crazy to do the test so early. I could see if you had high chances of it based on a previous pregnancy.

on the overweight thing... I am a very very fluffy momma, and I have never even been close to having GD.
