Just seen one of my friends pictures on facebook...they named their little girl Heavenly.....

I dont see that being a good choice as she gets older. Might be cute right now but honestly its a downfall for when she gets into school. I see her being picked on for people having to call her heavenly and in the work place i can see those feeling uncomfortable calling her by her first name.

the kids in this area( esp the town she is in) are HARSH and cruel to others as early as kindergarten. It gets worse as the grades go up. I feel sorry for the kid really.

Would be better as a middle name not a first

Not my cup of tea, but not the worst name I've heard, either.

Edited because I feel bad saying anything about someone else's choice of name.

I would be careful about judging someone's choice of name because where I am from heavenly is not an unpopular name and I can imagine someone who is really excited about that, or any other name and being hurt by someone publicly downing it here, where we expect to feel happy and safe discussing and sharing all of our pregnancy woes and joys

Heaven is on the top 300 names for girls in the us in the last ten years so I imagine heavenly is not so unusual for some ladies, and someone, like your fb friend might find it to be beautiful

While it's not the worse name, it's not ugly just not my cup of tea. I do think it sounds more like a nickname and doesn't really sound like a good name especially if she's unpopular at school kids can be so mean!

I try reeaaaaallllly hard not to judge people's baby names. I have some friends with... well, they named their kids some things I think it s a little weird. But that's their choice!

On the other hand, I have thought of at least 3 really snarky things to say about "Heavenly" that I find hilarious. ;-p

Hi there. I am popping in from the August DDC. I have a daughter. She is 15. Her name is Heaven-Leigh. I heard both sides of the fence from family way back when, when we told them the name we had chosen. (Actually,Ii had it picked out since I was younger. I read it in a V.C Andrews book.) Some loved it, some thought I should consider something else. Everyone had valid reasons behind why they felt they way they did, but in the end the choice was mine. I do not regret it one bit. My daughter has been teased, but not greatly. Just as my son has been teased name wise, and his name is Robert. Any name can be twisted to sound badly to someone else. Like food. For some people adding or leaving off one ingrediant can make or break the meal. I don't think people are wrong for liking names that someone else doesn't. One mans trash is another mans treasure and all that.

Growing up with a unique name, I have aimed for more normal sounding ones myself. That one is a little out there to me, but I see it being shortened. She'll be called Heaven or Lee, willing to bet. =)

People will make fun of anything. I named my second Winter, I can tell you exactly what will be said. Summer might have experienced this one. "Hey, Spring, I mean Fall, uh... Summer! What's your name again?"

My poor sister was Autumn Bush as a child. "Hey, Spring, I mean Autumn! So is your bush the colors of Autumn?" I guess it could have been worse. My dad wanted to name her Rose.

Personally I don't like people being opinionated about any choices my husband and I make with our baby, from vaccines, to circumcision, to picking a name to how we dress them. Its not a big deal, there are lots of unique names in the world (none seem more weird than the names those in Hollywood pick). I've personally found it frustrating that everyone seems to have an opinion when its not their kid. If I'm not beating my kid or causing straight up harm, I want left alone, IMHO. With as emotional as I've been and as protective as I feel, I'm about to tell a few people in our life to start keeping strong opinions to themselves. It can be hurtful. Just my two cents

lol I just remembered this... Speaking of schools, my dad had an Angel in his class once. There was an observer one day, and he called on Angel to answer several questions. At the end of the day, the woman got onto my dad for using "pet names." lol Did not realize that was a real name! This was the 80's. Maybe not too common yet?

He also had a La-a.
