It arrived! But I'm having trouble hearing anything besides some swooshing on my right side, which I think is the placenta. I need tips! Standing? Sitting? Laying? Super low? Need the gel or no? Full bladder, exercise first, etc?
I want to find it - 12 weeks in I think I should hear it. I'm not panicking but I'd like to hear something esp for DH's b-day today
SO, I think (THINK) we heard it. DH was more sure than me. I put some water based "personal lubricant" on my belly and then gave it another try. It was on my right again. I have my doubts because I visualized the beats going faster, but they were fast I guess Maybe I'm not having a hummingbird. I thought I heard two, maybe one was my own? Can you hear your own in your lower abdomen? I could barely hear my own on my left breast.
I chugged water and covered myself in goo (aloe vera neon blue goo) and I heard it! WOOHOO! Since we have a zillion actual aloe plants outside for burns this gooey fake gel stuff will finally come in handy because I'll be listening to baby at least once a week!
Woo! Good for you! Here's what I find helpful for next time:
Lie on your back
Always use some kind of gel (clear gel I've heard works best)
Start low, just above the hairline
Move slowly to one side and then the other
Don't be afraid to press to find it
