I know we talked about this earlier in our pg and since most of us have had an u/s by now, I'm curious to see what the gender predictions are for this theory. It goes like this....

97.2% of the male fetuses had a chorionic villi/placenta location on the right side of the uterus.
97.5% of female fetuses had a chorionic villi/placenta location to the left of the uterus.

Heres how you read the ultrasound:

Tansvaginal ultrasound (Actual result, not a mirror image)
If the location of the placenta is on the left of the uterus = girl
If the location of the placenta is on the right of the uterus = boy

Abdominal ultrasound (Must flip result because it is a mirror image)
If the location of the placenta is on the left of the uterus (must flip, its really on the right) = boy
If the location of the placenta is on the right of the uterus (must flip, its really on the left) = girl

The only confusing thing to me is, is the u/s pic MY right/left or looking down right/left?! Everyone post a pic of their u/s(s) and tell whether it's a TV or abdominal u/s!!! This may get fun!

Here's mine. Based on the theory, I'm having a boy according to the pics, but are the pics like I'm looking down from above or straight on? LOL

This one was a TV.

This one was an abdominal.

I'm confused by this too! My last ultrasound was at six weeks, and the doctor said it was too early to tell where the placenta was. I have another one next week though so will ask again!

Generally, the placenta will form behind where the yoke sac is. Not 100%, but in the u/s pic, you should be able to see a white blob outside of the sac behind the yoke sac and that's the placenta forming. HTH!

SHARE the pics, ladies so we can at least play!!!

Where the baby is in the uterus isn't how it works. It's where the placenta is in accordance to the sac.

It also depends on how the image is. Some transvaginal images are reversed. I talked to the tech when I had my 8 week scan and she had to stop and think which side was which on the screen.

In one of those pictures it looked like there was a little sticky blob on the left side of the uterus (my left when looking at the pic - i can't tell left from right in these things). It was TV. Analyze it up! When I felt w the doppler today the HB was on the right.

Does it have anything to do with the location of the corpus luteum? During my u/s I pointed to any area near my left pelvic bone and mentioned that I sometimes have pain there, especially if I sneeze or stand up too fast. She said my corpus luteum was there but it had shrunk down and was almost gone because my placenta had taken over. But I never did see where the placenta was.

Btw that's my 12 week u/s for my avatar. Can anyone see the placenta?

You can't really tell in mine, but my OB told me when she did the scan that the yolk sack was on the left side. She showed it to me on the screen, but you can't see it in the pics. this was a transvaginal scan at 7 weeks and 4 days.

This was also Transvaginal at 9 week and 4 days. She didn't say anything about the placenta, and I am not sure if I can see anything or not.

I want to play along but I am endlessly confused about left and right. Up and down. You know what I mean. And when I found the HB yesterday with the doppler (WOOWOO) it was on the LEFT and not the right like last time! Bugger is moving around in there. Most of my cramping is on the right if that makes a difference but we'll just have to see tomorrow. I'll have the tech give me the info on left vs right when they print out the US

I would love to have a pic to post, but I never even seen my little bean yet!

Maybe after my 18 week u/s I'll have one to take a peek at!
