Hey y'all / youse guys! (mixing my two homelands in this morning, such lovely accents )

I'm sorry if you've already discussed this but since I've never had an issue with allergies down here I just passed those threads right by. But here we are - the last few days I think I've developed allergies! Is that a preggo thing or a cruel life joke thing? My eyes were itching at dinner on Saturday - I thought I was allergic to the fish we were eating. Since then, headaches, watery eyes, congestion, runny/itchy nose, some throat irritation that I can tell is from all of the above, etc. The usual stuff. I went through my medicine drawer and everything is NIGHTTIME so I don't think I can take it preggo. What do you ladies take for allergies/colds while preggo? I also have some costco/Kirkland brand allergy meds (I think a Claritin dupe). I have benedryl that I know I can take, but history shows that when I take one, I have to have no plans because they knock me out. Very literally! I've put on 10 lbs and a baby since my last benedryl airlift to bed from DH so I want to avoid it.

Whatever you guys take most often I'll go and buy at lunch today. I avoid medicine normally (both pregnant and not) but I am just sick of all the mouth breathing! Bring it on!

I might need to break down and take some Benadryl. I'm in GA and the last few days everything is covered in pollen and these little seed things. I've had headaches, sore throat, stuffy nose, and coughing up mucus. I'm not normally an allergy person either!

I take Benadryl. I just take it right before bed. All allergy meds knock me on my but so there is no point in taking them during the day for me.

How long does Benedryl last? If I take at night in bed will it work the next day too?

I have to take Zyrtec every day. When I told my doc I take it he said it was fine. When I explained why, then he was was even more ok with it. My friend had horrible allergies when she was pregnant last time and she was only allowed to take a little Benadryl here and there. May be worth checking with your doc to see if they have a preference.

Doesn't benedryl make you sleepy though? maybe it is just me, lol. I was told that claritin and zyrtec (not the D version of either one) are ok to take, BUT I was also told that sudafed was ok to take when I was pregnant with my first and then a couple of months later I see law suits on TV about birth defects due to sudafed, so I am not sure what is actually, truly safe and what isnt. It all just scares me.

They just told me whatever I get to make sure it's the behind the counter stuff, not what's on the shelf. I'm not sure if there's non-drowsy Benadryl back there or not....
