We've decided to have the CVS. I know some ladies here have already had it done and I'm wondering what is it like? For you, did they do it with the first genetics appointment or did they decide it was right for your pregnancy and schedule it for another day? I am going to call the office to find out, obviously, I am just nervous and want to hear others' experiences. I'm afraid of needles. I'm pretty sure I'll pass out. How much can you feel it? How much can they numb you?

Thank You, Pattyandthemoos, for my beautiful siggy!
I've never had the test but I've had amniocentesis (multiple, lucky me) done for fetal lung development. It's apparently slightly different. My amnios, I get major problems from. I get them done at 36 weeks. I cramp, I spot and it's done abdominally, I get queasy during and after until my c. Amnios basically are where you lay on the u/s table and they guide a needle through your abdominal cavity into the womb, take a sample of fluid, and pull the needle out. It feels like it takes 4 hours, but it probably takes a total of 10 minutes. I hate them! Probably why I'm trying to make it to 37 weeks so I don't have to get one this time
Mine was the same day that I met with the genetic counselor, but it was not that way with my last pregnancy. We had done the blood work/NT scan last time after meeting with genetic counselor. This time we skipped the blood work/NT scan and went straight for CVS. It was done transvaginally not abdominally. It was like an pelvic exam really. I was able to watch on the u/s screen the whole thing if I wanted.
Please let me know if you have any questions at all!!! I'm more than happy to talk about it!
