It's been a VERY surreal day today. I am an opener at Starbucks in Cambridge and caught the first bus (and only bus) at 5 AM. I saw on facebook something was going on in Watertown, so I spent the bus ride in catching up on the nights events. When the bus pulled into the station that's when we learned the area was being evacuated and they were closing the T. I continued to the store and told my coworkers all the craziness was going on. Our manager called us and told us to lock down the store and stay put. I was locked in my store for 6 hours before my antsy husband said that's it I'm coming to get you! My hero!

I'm home now and it's shocking to see all that's going on! The MIT officer killed lived right down the street from me. It's just insane! Please pray this won't continue much longer and no one else will be hurt in the process.

Oh wow! I'm glad your husband came to get you, and that you are home safe!

Thank you for updating us. I have been wondering how our mommies in that area were doing.

You're all in my thoughts during this difficult time.

The officer that went down is a true hero. He ignited this chase, which has culminated in only one other death since him - and that was suspect number 1.

Suspected IEDs have been found at many major boston landmarks including Berklee, Comm Ave, Kenmore Square ... from what I've heard.

Over the last couple days, a friend who works in the Stata Center said the elevator lobby door locks were found to be disabled with paper and electrical tape - and that's where the officer was shot.

It sure looks like they were in the process of deploying a series of bombs around the city and that one officer discovered them in the process and kicked off the chase. He paid for it with his life, but goodness knows how many he has saved.

I look forward to the story being sorted and us getting all the details. Meanwhile; glad to hear you (and most everyone else) is safe, and that it's only a matter of time before this chapter in the book of human insanity is closed.

Wow, I had no idea what was even going on. I am a worry wart so I tend to avoid any news coverage.

I hope you stay home and keep safe and that this all ends soon!

Glad you are safe and sound! And my heart goes out to you and all of Boston. Such a crazy story that is unfolding. I guess the really question is WHY would anyone do this?

I just found out a sales rep of my company-his cousin had the 8 year old son that died, and she is missing a leg and has bolts in her eye. Their surviving son was unharmed but watched as it all happened.

Being pregnant and bringing a child into this world for the first time, this is really starting to scare me! Anything can happen.

I am so glad to hear you're home now... I saw the pics snapped from Watertown houses and it looked like a horror movie, so ominous. Wishing you (and the other Boston mommies!) all the best..

Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts, & prayers for the Boston community. It is such a relief that this is all over and no one else was hurt in the process. Hopefully we will have some answers soon.
It has truly been amazing seeing the bravery of the first responders, and the hard work and dedication of all the men & women involved in this investigation. I think when we question the lose of humanity, we shouldn't focus on the few crazy people who did this but instead our spirits should be bolstered by the multitude of people rushing in to show their humanity to strangers in need.

Glad you are safe and I hope you manage to have a relaxing weekend. One of my coworkers is in Watertown and I can't imagine what that neighborhood went through. Can you imagine finding that guy in your boat? I'm from the area and have so many friends there. I am so happy it is finally over.
