My exH is half black, half Filipino. I never really got any negative comments in regards to my 2 older kids. You don't need people like that in your life.

Who cares what people say! I know, I know, easier said than done. I honestly think mixed race babies are so beautiful. I'm a little jealous that me and the hubs are both plain white crackas (yeah I said it) and won't have an exotic looking little beauty!

I'm jealous, too. Mixed babies are so pretty! We're both white, too.

I'm half asian so the baby will have be a little different, but no one says anything. If they did I would snap at them though!

My older 2 are mixed. I have had a few comments from ignorant people in years past, but not for quite a while. Some people are just plain stupid and you learn to ignore them and distance yourself from them. No one needs people like that in their life

I don't have any advice, but I'm so sorry people would make comments. That's rude and so wrong.

I also am not in your situation but wanted to agree with everyone that you shouldn't pay those ignorant people any mind.

My advice would probably be censored by Just Mommies. What kind of things are they saying? You don't need these people in your life and you don't need to justify yourself to them, but sometimes it is handy to have a stock phrase to respond with to get yourself out of that conversation before you have a heart attack or punch someone.

It's unbelievable anyone says things to people like that. Try to ignore them if you can. There are so many of a mixed race nowdays that you'd think that people wouldn't think anything of it!

My response would also be NSFJM. I like Wren's idea of having a comeback ready. For instance, scared white folk I'd probably say something like "Well it's a good thing y'all will be a minority soon." I'd want to offend them as much as they did me, and I'd go low for those I didn't care about. If it's someone close, that sucks. :/

I am a proponent of yelling at racists and making a scene of the ignorant, racist BS they say.

Guarantee they'll think a second time before they let their inane drivel fall out of their meatflaps again, at least around you.

I hope it's no one close to you, because that complicates things a bit, but seriously; screw racists.

Good ole Atlanta, I remember some real race-tards when I lived there. Folks would get their arss kicked by most in the west for racist comments. I'm not having a bi-racial baby but I have plenty of friends that are mixed race, amazing its even an issue for anyone in 2013. Its seriously no ones business, I agree with everyone else, you really dont need that in your life. I would tell them (family, friend, or acquaintance) to f-off.

Thanks ladies! It's mainly people I work with and my partner he's one of those born again southern baptist who think everyone but them is going to hell. So since I'm unwed and having a part Hispanic child I'm a mortal sinner who should be punished. So "good" friends I have up north are acting the same way pretty much. Also parts of my family not the ones I live with but extended family have said they will have nothing to do with Jacob because he's not all white

You are right it's Atlanta! When I go further south like savannah it's more accepted than here!

If it's people you work with, then that is harassment in the workplace and I'd be having a chat with superiors about that. I hope your situation gets resolved soon. That's totally unfair for them to treat you that way.

I think mixed race babies are beautiful; I've always gone out of my way to look at them...Up the street from where I used to live, there were a set of twins (mom black, dad white) who were gorgeous!! They had the kind of tan that I wish I had, blue eyes, and blonde hair! Where I used to work, there was this Indian lady with a white husband who had this really pretty daughter - such a unique and exotic look! I'm really going to enjoy looking at pics of your baby too.

Anyway, I'm sorry that people (DNA related or not) are being such jerks to you - I hope that you realize that you don't need that in your life. As I get on in my years, I've come to learn that sometimes the best "family" to have is the one that you create via supportive friends.
