I didn't see your question. Maybe a month or so ago one of us suggested getting beads and then we all sent them to one person who coordinated everything. She will be putting a bead from everyone and putting them in an envelope that we sent her. Once we get the beads we can make a bracelet or whatever we want out of them, and it's just a nice reminder of this group and also can be used as a source of strength and encouragement during labor. There was a message sent awhile ago in this forum asking who wanted to participate, and then she sent a reminder. I think about 22. Of us ended up being involved.
We had 28 participants but 4 couldn't participate at the last minute, so we now have 24.
Beads are going in the mail tomorrow most likely, Friday at the latest. Once everyone gets them they can put them on a string and use as a key chain, make a necklace or bracelet or whatever.
The point of it is to a) remember these lovely ladies by and b) to hold before or during a c-section for strength and encouragement or to use as a tool for strength and encouragement during labor. I plan on using them as a form of meditation beads during early labor before I get an epidural.
Hope that helps!

kinda sad I didn't see the original notice, I did see the second one but didn't know what it was then either... not sure I had a chance to ask though. Thanks so much for answering the question, it was really bugging me to not know what a birth bead was, especially as someone whose 'profession' revolves around birth.
