Has anyone had their doctor ask you to start doing this on a daily basis?

The standard has changed since my last baby. I was told to start now doing fetal kick counts, and given a book to log them in.

He said now that you should get 10 movements within 2 hours at any given time of the day. And also he said if you don't get the 10 movements in the 2 hours, call the doc and say, im going to the hospital the baby isn't moving, and go to the hospital. no more asking for permission.

I haven't been told anything about it yet, I'm assuming she will mention it at my appt on Monday!

I don't think I have ever been told to count the kicks. They always just ask if I am feeling movement when I go in. I don't think I have ever counted them either. I just kind of take mental note of hey baby is moving again.

I agree I haven't actually sat and counted them, I just make note that I'm feeling him pretty often. I'm sure he moves MORE then 10 times in 2 hours though, hes super active!

The doc had explained to me that babies have a 20 minute rest period so most likely you should get the 10 within the 2 hours with out an issue.

I was never really instructed so much on it as this round. I am guessing cuz it was the high risk doc?

yeah they may just be covering all angles since you are high risk.

I wonder if I feel all of her movements like I am supposed to because I do have an Anterior Placenta. I wonder if that still makes a difference at this stage.

I bet it's just b/c you are considered high risk.

I wouldn't bother doing it unless I was noticing a decrease in movement. I can't remember things like counting, honestly.

I was told the same thing at my last appointment, but it was 10 kicks every hour but she said if I don't feel any in one hour wait to the next..if two hours pass with no kicks to go in.

Whenever I think that I haven't felt the baby in a while, I immediately get kicked. Started reading this, there was a kick! lol I haven't bothered to count. Whenever I get worried I drink something sugary. Works like a charm.

I haven't heard yet, but I have an appointment Monday. Though based on that, I would've gone in this past Sunday. Planned on going in Monday if the brat didn't start, and he did. Right back to his normal wiggly self.

I downloaded an app that counts. I'd probably never be able to remember to always carry a book.

umm... this kid never stops moving. It's unreal. Even right now he's got the hiccups.

on the other hand, it makes me nervous because I've gotten used to him moving so much that I don't even think about it. So I always have to remind myself to make sure to stop and actually check.

At 28 weeks my doc asked me to start
10 for ever 2 hours.
I do it because I have read stories where people will not notice till like last minute and then not get the 10 and then they have to go to the hospital and whatnot and it's all like last minute (sorry if that made no sense, it's nap time)

I was supposed to start at 26 weeks but my parents are visiting and honestly I forgot. I figure I'll start after they leave (hopefully I remember!!)

My midwife said to start at 28 weeks, which will be Sunday, also 10 kicks in 1 hr, then if I don't reach that to check the next hour. I've read you're supposed to get a baseline for what's normal and then see if there's a decrease. She was so quiet last week I was a little scared, but now she's jumping all over the place, 10+ kicks in 10 minutes!

This was new to me also this time. With my son, it was just pay attention & if he doesn't move around for more than a couple hours, come in. I too am thinking it may be because of being HR.

Just got that little book at my last appt. Though this boy tends to get his 10 in 10mins or less. He gets very active then will sleep or rest for 45 mins to an hour or so. but even then, I do feel him adjust, slight rolling or moving like that.

I have been bad & haven't been marking anything down. I am just horrible at writing things down. I am paying attention though. Just feels like I am slacking on my homework.

I had heard about the switch in the way you count, but I have not been asked to count yet.

My previous doctor never asked me to formally count, but this is a different doctor. They said in the very beginning that at some point (I can't remember when) they will ask me to do the counts. I want to say around 28 weeks.

No, that sounds like over-kill at this stage. Why are you high risk? I must have missed something.

My doc said start at 32 weeks, but I'm nervous because baby girl is so mellow, sometimes I go hours without feeling her!
