My SO is always getting our two year old toys that are too old for him (it says "for 3+" or "4+" on the package. Not because there are tiny parts he can choke on, but because it takes like a degree in rocket science to assemble, and you know, the dexterity and patience of a 3 or 4 year old, not a 2 year old! The last time he did this the toy was hardly ever played with and is sitting in the pack n play (aka storage container) disassembled in our living room. I just get annoyed because I feel it is a waste of money. I should probably be thankful I have nothing more serious to complain about, but it still irks me.

When I was pregnant with our first dh was overseas and only able to come home for 2 weeks for the birth. We went to TRU so I could get some last minute things before the birth. I told him to pick something out for the baby- a "gift" for him. He picked a couple of Star Wars guys 3+

Lol, that's exactly what I'm talking about. I even asked SO "so is this gift for Ethan or you?"

You know, we did a huge clean out of our house and toys, after 7 kids and all the stuff they had collected.... honestly even with my youngest being almost 4, my kids don't really play with toys much anymore. I had a HUGE bin of baby toys... I took out about the amount of a target shopping bag, and that was about all my kids played with as babies/toddlers. Yet when a birthday comes I feel like I MUST get them a ton of stuff??

I honestly believe they are more toys for DH's than for kiddos. My DH will head to the toy section to play with Nerf guns or whatnot before my son can even ask to look. LOL.
