My husband's office where he has worked for over 10 years is hosting a office work baby shower party for us tomorrow at a local restaurant for lunch. I have never been to a office baby shower in general and this will be the first baby shower for us so not sure how I should act. lol. Kinda nervous as I may not know everyone that will be there and there could be up to 30 people there. I just hope I don't get all emotional and break down and cry in front of people I don't know well. My husband gave me a heads up that his office was collecting money for a Babies R us gift card so when we do thank you cards should we do just one group card to all of the people who gave us the one card or alot of individual ones?

Oh that sounds like fun. A little nerve wrecking, but fun.

I work in a pretty large facility and normally here when money is taken up for a baby, injury, death in the family, etc. there is just one Thank you card that is posted on a bulletin board in the area. Since I am the administrator of my area I am usually in charge of monetary donations and receiving the Thank you card and making sure that it is seen by all.

That's SO nice of them! When my office threw me a wedding shower they all pitched in and got me a set of outdoor chairs off my registry, I sent one thank you card to the whole office.

My dh office always pools money for a gift card except last time they threw a baby shower at the office for him. I wasn't there and it was a surprise. They did small joke individual gifts. I still sent in one thank you card "to the office" and he hung it in the break room.

I work in a small medical office with roughly about 20 employees total (8 of us there at a time on most days) & 4 of us are pregnant. We had the first shower last month for a girl due in July. A few of us went in on some gifts together & some did her own thing. We had it in the break room at work. She brought in one card for all of us & I think that was appropriate. Back when I worked for a large company & was pregnant with my first son, a co-worker had a shower for me at her house & invited like 20 people. I sent individual thank yous to each person. There were no joint gifts & it was held outside of work so it seemed appropriate. In your situation I would probably go with one card for the whole group unless everybody gets you something different. Have fun & don't worry! You're the star so everybody will be super nice to you

My husband's office is throwing us one today. He's been there 5 years. It's a small group, and they are all so sweet. They are getting Moe's catering. I'm excited for the food, lol. They invited the kids too.

It's slightly awkward because it's also a goodbye lunch as my hubby accepted a new job and will be leaving next week.

A group card/thank you note should work in your case.

The baby shower was so nice, I was so overwhelmed by the support and the gifts they gave us for baby James. My husband and I did one big thank you card for the gift card and other ones for those who did separate gifts for us, my husband took the cards as well as a coffee cake in to work with him yesterday as a thank you. My husband works with the best group ever, he has been there 12 years and when they went back to work after the shower my husband found out he is getting a job promotion that he interviewed for to manager of his department since he current boss is leaving. Friday really was the best day that I can remember in such a long time.
