We found several bugs tonight out of nowhere that look like bed bugs. I think this might be the straw that breaks the camels back. I seriously do not need this right now. Ugh! We have never had them (not very prevalent in CA) but we have had "bite" issues since she went on a trip with family last Winter and we haven't been able to figure it out. We got her a new mattress about 3-4 months ago and bought a mattress cover too (thinking maybe she was allergic to dust mites) but it looks like it might be bed bugs We don't get ants, roaches, rodents, nothing, so it sucks. We rarely get spiders - we seriously don't even spray that is how good our natural pest control is. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep right now.

Awww I'm so sorry Are you sure? Lice can look like bed bugs I think. Maybe fleas? Did you check the mattress for dark spots? Closer to the wall is where apparently it's easiest to find. Here in VA there was like a huge outbreak a few years ago and I am deathly afraid of those things so I'm always on the hunt.
I think the only way to get rid of them the best is to get an exterminator
I'm so sorry this is happening and I hope what I said helped.
Hugssss I know this is hard

Ugh, that would be too much for me too! Call an exterminator to deal with it.

What a pain, and not something you would ever want to deal with. I hope the exterminator can get rid of then quickly.

That would give me a heart attack. So sorry you have to deal with that.

I use diatomaceous earth for everything crawling-bug related. It's very effective. If the exterminator is going to take a while and you want to at least halt the spread of the bugs (some people even do the entire treatment themselves with it) get some food grade DE and follow the instructions. It works!

Be sure to do some reading about application and cleanup before you use it. ...and be sure to get the food-grade sort.

Thanks. The guy we talked to this morning said it would be $2500 and they can't come til next Thursday! Granted he is a "come in guns blazing - overkill" kind of company because I don't want to mess around, so I know it is more expensive, but man, I just don't have an extra $2500 laying around right now. I have no choice though but to get rid of them, so maybe I will try the DE before next Thursday. Oy, what a nightmare!

Wow, $2500 seems a bit extreme? I've never had to call an exterminator before, but my sister got bed bugs in her house last year from a bed they purchased (brand new, mind you) and had to have an exterminator come in. I think it only cost them a few hundred dollars. Have you called around for quotes?

We found another guy that is going to just use chemicals and bomb the place three times for only $450. The other guy used heat, chemicals, dust, everything. Since it is only $450, we are gonna try him first and hope for the best, meanwhile, we will also be using other more DIY methods to keep them away once they are gone. What a nightmare! This makes me NEVER want to sleep in a hotel again or let my kids sleep in a hotel again!

Ick! Good luck and definitely follow their advice. I had some friends who just got rid of an infestation, and it included bagging up lots of unused things and keeping them in the garage for 18 months. Those suckers are hard to kill!
I thankfully don't have them, but went through a couple months of panic after we stayed in a REALLY nice hotel in san diego, and I woke up with literally hundreds of welts on my body that itched like CRAZY! They steam cleaned all our stuff and moved rooms for us, but I was completely convinced a rogue bug would make it to our house and cause a long-term nightmare. Good luck!! I hope they die soon!

I've literally cordoned off her room until the exterminator comes on Saturday. Right now, we are doing laundry and bagging it until after the guy comes as well as spraying stuff down and vacuuming, etc. Let's just say our trash bins will be extra full for the next few weeks because I am going on a throwing away spree. I am already the opposite of a pack rat, but my oldest daughter and husband like to "save" things. Nothing crazy, they just aren't like me.
