I've still been bummed about the non-shower, so my hormones got the better and I started tearing up when I walked into work this morning and saw the breakroom decked out for a baby shower, complete with gifts and games. Total surprise. I was just told yesterday we have an important manufacturer coming in so being here was important.
I guess SO was in on it. He and my boss pulled it off. I think even the new guy who started this week contributed. And now I'm tearing again. I feel very, very lucky.
Slightly OT: I'd like to also thank my previous job for their tarded lay-off of me because it allowed me to find this job where I make 30% more money in less than half the time and I get to work with awesome people. Everyone is awesome right now, even the chick who annoys me. I'm Rick Moranis at the end of Ghostbusters 2. I love everyone.
I am the proud new owner of bibs, several outfits, pacifiers, a diaper travel station, books (brought by the 21 year old guys who floundered onto awesome gifts) and my pack n' play.
We played games and they provided lunch and cake for everyone. It was super nice to get the shower experience. I'll have to reciprocate in a few months for my boss, especially now because my kid has a bed and won't have to sleep in a drawer. OK, that wasn't a worry, but it's my first big baby thing.
