I am so frustrated with Daniel's cord! It still hasn't fallen off even though we are cleaning it the required 4 times a day.
I attempted to use one of his cloth diapers the other day with the snap down of course and it managed to rub up against it anyway and bled a little. Since then I ditched the cloth idea until it falls off because I don't want to take any chances if it getting infected. Strange though, it even happened a little with the sposies even though I folded the diaper for it not to rub. Any advice to offer?
Is anyone else here on day 13 with the cord still attached?
We are seeing his pediatrician tomorrow so I'll ask about it then.
Never had this issue with Finn. Geeeez! The worrying never ends!

I have never cleaned the umbilical stump and I've always had them fall off in about a week. I was told that cleaning them will make them stay on a lot longer

Our pediatrician just said to clean it if it got especially gunky toward the belly but otherwise we didn't have to do anything special. They did say to keep it dry. Also, they said it could be a week, or two or three. I wouldn't worry!

Dd's fell off at 1 week, but still oozes blood now and again at 3 weeks. We were told not to clean it because keeping it dry helps it fall off faster. With our other kids, I think it hung on foot about 2 weeks. I read that on average they fall off at 2 weeks, but it can be anywhere from 5 to 45 days.

Jude's fell off after 10 days. We were told to only pull at it ever so slightly at ever change, no cleaning required. It was kinda gross towards the end and afterwards but it's fine now.

We were told do nothing with it. I just wiped away the gooey on his tummy. It was off in a week and a half.

With my first few kids we were told to clean it and all that with the alcohol and it took almost. Month for them. One had to have stuff put on it to dry it up. Some sliver stuff that ruined clothes.

We were told to do nothing and make sure to keep it dry and Atlas' fell off within 3 days, but it did bleed for about two weeks afterward so we had to clean his belly button with alcohol and my midwife would put some special powder on it when she came over.

The doctor told us to clean it, but he's old fashioned & I didn't listen. It fell off in a week.

Cleaning it helps it stay wet and hold on longer - drying is what helps it go. Consider not cleaning it and just watching it carefully to make sure it doesn't redden.

They recommend cleaning it with water here, which I didn't get at all, but I did it and it took a nice while and didn't look good at times.

My son was born on the 7th and his cord just fell off on the 26th.

So took us about 20 days for his to fall off. 2 or 3 weeks is a average time. Don't rush the process, we just cleaned it with alcohol like the doctor said and it's now gone and he is now left with a cute little belly button. lol

Henry's fell off today, and he is 2 weeks and 2 days old. So, it's totally normal to still be on at day 13. My ped told me anywhere from 1-3 weeks is normal but it can be even longer. We were also told not to clean it, just keep it dry.

Lily's was hanging on by a thread at 7 days so I snipped that sucker off. For a week after I would sometimes find a tiny bit of dried blood around there. I heard it can take a while. I give full on baths right away, and it never made it stay longer than a week. Sounds like we lucked up!
