I have tried Curly Q's before & I didn't like it. It was too strong for Lexi's hair. I use Bumble & Bumble Curl Conscious for Medium to Thick hair...it is expensive but very worth it. Lexi's hair looks fabulous with it!

You guys are great mothers that you are willing to do so much for your daughters hair, alot of the people out here where i live don't know what to do and they don't seem to care.

Thanks! Kids with a messed up head is probably my biggest pet peeve! I hate it! I know biracial hair can sometimes be hard to handle but you keep searching till you find something that works! JMO I love my daughter's hair & I take pride in how she looks.

Oh I love Bumble & Bumble!!!!!

Im with you babypaid at first I didnt know what to use. I tried Motions and to me it stunk I didnt like it and it left her hair greasy looking. I learned about bumble & bumble through a friend and I love it!

YES my biggest pet peeve is when the mothers walk around hair all done looking nice and the kids are walking around looking like i dont know what. If you have the time to take care of your hair .. then you should have time to take care of your kids hair!!!

And I have to agree your girls have beautiful hair!

You ladies could also look into braiding your DD's hair, i mean like with weave and stuff, weave is not just good for looks, but it helps your hair grow, and makes it healthy, because you are giving it a break from all the daily maintenance and lets say you get busy and can't do a whole lot her hair, the weave makes the braids last longer, like for months (depending on the quality of course), i am saying for when they get older. if you already know how to braid then it wouldn't be hard to learn at all. there was this woman i use to work with who was hungarian, and she use to braid her daughters hair herself all the time. she grew up in the GHETTO so she used to braid all her black friends hair too. the first time i saw it i thought it was done professionally, but she was like no i did it. the woman knew how to do anything. so maybe you can look into it for when they get older cause like you say it does take a alot to maintain but you can take a break when you do that. you could do cornrows or whatever you want.

this was dd @ beginning of school and i agree w/candygirl. it's so easy to maintain. but dd is tender headed and she cryed through the whole thing. i felt so bad. but she loved it and begs to get it done again. we put purple in it too. that all her length too.

That is so beautiful, she is so pretty. the more you do it the more she get use to it, because i am tender headed too, but the more i get it done the more i am use to it, but if i don't get it done for over a year it starts again. and if you want to you can always and a little more human hair and it will last really long. i really like you ladies, you are not afraid to explore outside of what you are use to for your children. keep doing ya thang!

..I like braids on little girls but only with their natural hair...something about little girls with weave just rubs me the wrong way....

My DD's grandmother is mixed (so that makes her what 1/3, 1/4 mixed, who knows) but she has a wonderful grade of hair...it is soft and can go curly or be blown straight. I used to braid her hair when she was smaller (she is 7 now) but she is sooo tender headed now....I think it is an act, but be it as it may the girl flinches if you even look like you are going to do her hair...haha

The only thing is I have a time with products as well...the "Black" hair care products make her hair look greasy and caked up and the "White care products just make her hair look dry.

So far we get by with washing and baby oil if we want to blow it straight.

Bumble & Bumble, thanks I'll have to try it. I am Black and my hairis "Black" as well, but my hair care is easy (get a relaxer, use leave in conditioner) haha easy as pie but I want to get and keep DD on the right path so that when she tsarts doing her own hair she knwos what works for her

Oh and go figure! the BEST detangler I ever used for her was CVS brand! stumbeled upon it when she was maybe 4 or 5 and it works wonders, spray a generous amount and her hair has ZERO tangles, I mean you can run a fine tooth comb through it with no problems. Crazy! CVS brand worked better than any other brand I tried!

Lexi gets her hair braided a few times a year...like maybe 5. It takes around 3 hours or so & she never fllinches or asks for a break or nothing. I only keep them in for about a week bc I HATE fuzzy, frizzy messed up braids plus it breaks her hair off if I leave it longer.....Her hair is curly but the texture is more like mine. Here is a pic from this summer with braids.

That is a beautiful picture her hair looks so nice, now as far weave i would only use human hair, when you use it helps to let the hair grow, i know because i cut my hair and didn't like it and had my hair braided with human hair, and it grew back so fast, the hair dresser even commented on it, some people's hair can take it others can't. my grandmother is mixed, half black and half white/native american, and so is my grandfather on my dad's side, he's half black half native american, so my family has curly hair, especially my sister. people always though she was mixed because her hair looks just like babypaids daughters hair, and we do good with the braids. but there is always a chance to overdue it. so i think the mothers know best whether their child hair can handle it or not.
