I am so excited you are all here. DH and I have a 2 year old DS, Brayden Kainoa! I am glad this forum is here as I am sure I will have questions.

Ethnicity has never been something I have really thought about. DH is from Hawaii, which is where we met in college. And Hawaii is a big melting pot, which we loved! Now we are in Seattle which has awesome diversity too! The fact my son is biracial hasn't been a topic I have put much thought into. In fact, sometimes I forget, until someone says, "Oh he looks like his Daddy," or "Wow he has great skin" LOL

But I should be more aware, for example just last week I was at his dr appt and DH wasn't there. The nurse was filling out some paperwork and needed to know his race. She said she could tell he was "mixed" but boy she felt uncomfortable asking me about his ethnicity.

I want to make sure Brayden knows about his and is proud of Filipino culture. Anyway, I look forward to getting to know you all. I will stop babbling on for now.

Happy New Year!

Stephanie

Hello and welcome. I'm half Filipino. My mom is from Ilo Ilo. It good that they have a "mixed" option with your sons paper work. Before Adriana was born, I didn't know what to write on her birth certificate, am I White (I'm also half German) or am I Asian? lol I didn't have a "mix" option.. lol I also get comments on my skin tone.. But now that I live in the Inland northwest, I'm white in the winter and I have a wonderful tan in the summer.

Welcome, Welcome
Dont worry we don't think what you experience as a mommy "babble" at all!! Its great to share whatever thoughts you have. Not only is it therapeutic to get your thoughts of your chest, but you just might makes someone feel like they're not crazy because you express something they have seen, felt or heard. Its great to share so keep it up!
